'Jurassic Park' Author Michael Crichton Dead at 66

'Jurassic Park' Author Michael Crichton Dead at 66

"Jurassic Park" author and "ER" creator Michael Crichton died Tuesday at age 66, according to a statement from his family.

The novelist passed away in Los Angeles after a private battle with cancer. The family said his death was unexpected in a statement available on his Web site.
This is really a shame. He was an intelligent, creative man who invited you to learn while enjoying his novels. At the same time, he challenged you to look at the world around you in different ways, and develop your own critical thinking abilities. Reportedly (on wikipedia), his last book will be published next May.

Brilliant guy...I enjoyed his novels. In addition to Jurassic Park, he wrote Disclosure, Rising Sun, The Great Train Robbery, Sphere and Timeline. That's a very diverse set of subjects.

As an aside, my boss went to school with him and they played on the same basketball team. Crichton was the center at 6'7". R.I.P.

In 1970 I was stationed at fort Sam Houston when someone gave me a copy of 'The Andromeda Strain'.
I've been hooked every since.
I have also read all of his books and will miss his work.

I was sorry to hear the news as well.
The guy did a fair amount of research when writing a book and made very entertaining novels with some thought.
Read them all, a shame there won't be anymore.
