Internet Addictions

I'm sure none of us suffer from this "ailment"...

Internet addictions: A real medical menace?

Alcohol, drugs, food, sex, and even shopping are all candidates for medical treatment and are recognized as genuine mental disorders, so what about the Internet? Internet addiction -defined as "excessive gaming, sexual pre-occupations, and email/text messaging" - is becoming so common that at least one psychiatrist says it merits inclusion in psychiatry's official handbook of mental illness, the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders."

So anybody with more than 10K posts is in all likelihood mentally insane.
This explains a lot.

Re: Internet Addictions

I think alot of it is getting blown up, I spend alot of hours on my laptop, but I also don't watch almost any T.V. anymore, I also catch up on all my current events which takes a big chunk, not to mention time I used to spend playing the X-Box.

I think as computers and the internet in general become this hug multi dimensional beast people are using it for more and more.
I just recently bought a tv tuner card for my laptop and now I watch and record programs on it.
Studies like this have a little merit but I think they rule out too much stuff that would get in the way of the results they want.

Yes, I should be working right now, I tell myself I can quit but I just can't. This damn website will probably cost me my job someday.
Of all my addictions(smoking, smoking, drinking) PPO is definetly causes me the most problems.
