    Interesting history lesson.

Wow is all i can say.
And all below is 100% correct.

    History Lesson

Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.

    Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.
    Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

    Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theatre named 'Ford.' Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln' made by 'Ford.'

Lincoln was shot in a theatre and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theatre.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

    And here's the kicker...

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

    Re: Interesting history lesson.

Well as a future history teacher I'll explain it...

    Coincidence

Also keep in mind that Oswald may not have shot Kennedy. The government maintains that he was, but then again, who believes the government? I know I don't! It was the Cubans I say...

Ya know, if ya dig deep enough you could probably make most any historical event work that way. Just a guess.

    Re: Interesting history lesson.

These coincidences seem too amazing to be true... that might be because half of the simply aren't true or are intentionally misleading.

I have seen this circulate before, so I looked into it once. Some things are just plain wrong ~ for instance, Lincoln did not have a secretary named Kennedy. Lincoln's White House secretaries were John G. Nicolay and John Hay.

Other statements are misleading, like saying that both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Kennedy didn't do anything for civil rights until several incidents pushed to the verge of crisis, and the Civil Rights Acts was passed under Johnson, not him. Lincoln was much more concerned with the possible divisio nof the USA than any civil rights of the black man.

    Also, my favorite:
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

Ummm, Marilyn died over a year before Kennedy, so I really hope he wasn't with her a week before he was shot. Yuck.
