    Input from NHL fans

    I am native New Englander.
Only local team I love is the Boston Bruins.
They were not predicted to do as well as they are right now.

    Real deal?
    Too early to tell?
They are playing awesome hockey right now.
Finally kicking the crap out of the Canadiens last night was long over due.

I have always felt Tim Thomas was a great goalie, but not one of the best.
His play so far this year can be compared to any great goalie and I feel he has now become one of the best in the league.
    Thoughts?

Any team can start well, reference the wild if you'd like proof. Goalies are streaky, and it's not all their fault, nor should they get all the praise. I'd say it has alot to do with the way the wings/forwards cover their man. Naturally a good goaltender can carry you a long way, and just like a QB, they are the player with the most exposure. Ultimately, everyone comes down to earth. How long the goalie can keep you on that high, will go along way to whether you're making hotel reservations or tee times, when the playoffs roll around.

I don't think it is just a case of a goalie getting hot on Boston.
    Thomas has always been steady.
The thing about the Bs over the last several years has been their lack of goal scoring.
    That has changed dramatically.
Last five games bfore last nights they avereged 4.0 goals per game.
Last night they laid 6 (3 in 1st per.) vs. their long time nemesis, the Canadiens.
    Thanks for the reply STCLOUDSAYSGOVIKES.

    Re: Input from NHL fans

I just posted my opinion in the interview thread, but to add to it I will say this: They will probably make the playoffs, and maybe get lucky in the first round, but those teams with more talent and a truly good goalie will beat them. They are not having a deep playoff run just yet.

Tim Thomas might be a top 10 goaltender, but will never be in the top 5.

Boston should be in the playoffs.
    They look great right now.
I don't think that Thomas is dependable/consistent enough to carry them a long way though.
    Fernandez is the back-up right?
    That was a good move.

    Yes, Fernandez is the b-up.
I don't know how often you get to see Thomas play, but believe me, for the most part he has always played solid enough to win most games.
For quite a while, the Bs havn't been able to put the puck in the net.
    That is changing drastically.

That game were he got the hat trick a few weeks ago... After that I said that this man has arrived and he is not going anywhere. You are lucky to have him and get to watch him every night.

My silly team has Hemsky tho. He is just as fun
