A prison inmate in france killed and ate his cellmate.

Two upper body muscles and half of a lung were missing.

I have no idea how this could happen.

Rouen: The murdering prisoner claiming to have eaten his victim's heart is a "liar", according to the prosecutor.

ROUEN (AP) - The Rouen (Seine-Maritime) Prison prisoner who killed one of his two cellmates Tuesday night, affirming at the time of his arrest to have eaten "his victim's heart", is "a liar", the public prosecutor Joseph Schmit declared at Thursday's press conference at Rouen's court.

The autopsy of the victim, Thierry Baudry (31 years old), was conducted Thursday afternoon and "reports that the heart was found in the body of the victim. It is in its envelope and is in good condition", indicated the prosecutor.

The accused, Nicolas Cocaigne (35 years old), in custody on a sex charge, claimed at the time of his arrest that he punched and kicked his cell mate. He then, "under a criminal impulse", delivered several blows to his victim's chest using a chisel before choking his cell mate. Cocaigne, "who was not known to be violent", added Mr. Schmit, then claimed to have torn out the heart of its victim and eaten it.

A supervisor who discovered the body of Baudry on Wednesday with a grievous wound to the chest. The medical examiner called to the scene immediately noted the wound. Imprisoned on November 26 in the Rouen (Seine-Maritime) Prison, Cocaigne was serving a four years sentence for sexual aggression. The victim, like the third cell mate, was in provisional detention awaiting trial for sex offenses.

The prison authorities opened an internal investigation on Thursday.
