I Won the Lottery!!!!
....ok maybe not.
I worked for Wal-Mart for 3 years and I got this letter today.
Dear Current and Former Assciates:
After an internal review of our payroll processes, we discovered some issues with the way we were calculating the "regular rate" of pay. After we discovered the issues, we did the right thing, and the right thing to do in this case was to report the details of what we found to the United States Department of Labor.
The issues are very complicated because overtime isn't just time-and-a-half. Under Federal law, the overtime pay rate is calculated as one-and-a-half times the "regular rate" of pay. The regular rate includes all compensation someone earns in a work week divided by the total number of hours that person actually worked in that same week. Additional compensation in the calculation may include prizes, awards, premiums, shift and geographical differentials, and some bonuses and incentives.
The mistakes caused both over payments and under payments. This site provides only the under payment amounts.
We have updated our systems to ensure that the factors that should be included in the regular rate calculation are now being included, and we have begun calculating the regular rate of pay accurately.
Please note that amounts stated herein are calculated through the pay period ending January 5, 2007.
Additional amounts due, if any, will be added to this total within 30 days from the end of the current pay period.
Current Associates receiving less than $20 in back wage payments will receive these amounts on a regular future paycheck, except in California. All California Associates receiving back wage payments of any amount, all former associates, and all current associates receiving back wage payments of $20 or more will receive their payments on a separate check mailed to their homes. A check will be mailed to your address shown above within 120 days unless you notify us of a change of address within 10 days of the Federal Court approval of the settlement agreement.
Well allong with the letter I recieved a huge check for..........$0.71.
I need pp.o's advice on how to spend it.
Maybe Webby could use it for the maintenance of the site

Re: I Won the Lottery!!!!
I would take it to wal-mart and see if they will cash it or if they would charge you a fee for that service(i think it starts at $2).

Re: I Won the Lottery!!!!
Call HR at Walmart and ask them if you can roll it over into an IRA.
Better yet, send an official letter to their headquarters and ask them and CC it to the newspaper where you get all those crazy stories from.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

Re: I Won the Lottery!!!!
Something similar happened to Frank Meyers on the Andy Griffith show.
It didn't involve Wal Mart, but the mayor and Floyd the barber built Frank a new house.
Maybe Wal Mart will build you a new house...

Re: I Won the Lottery!!!!
Are you standing upright again?
Gotta love that walmart for doing what was right! lol!“What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. It’s the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"
