I have a job interview today...
..with Marriot for a chef position.
Now the question is do I do the whole tie and jacket thing or do I wear the chef gear.
I am thinking the tie.
But I am not sure.
What does anyone think?SKOL VIKINGS

What does anyone think?"Golf is the only sport you can talk about threesomes, foursomes, and the size of your balls. "

Re: I have a job interview today...
Wear a suit if you can, even if you are going to a job for a janitor position always look your best. Especially if you are going to be a chef. The last thing someone wants is osmeone that does not look professional and clean.I cannot tell you how many times I hear back from potential employers about why some one did not get a job. Look your best, Smile, sound encouraged and that you really want to work there. Shake hands with the person. I have both sent people on job interviews and done interviews. I have hired less
impressive peopel based on there resume basically beacuse of their apparence and attitude. Also if you are a smoker don't smoke before your interview, belive it or not alot of employers can get turned of by the smell of a smoker

Re: I have a job interview today...
I don't think you need to wear a suit, but I definitely would not wear kitchen attire. I've been in and out of the chefing biz for some years, and I always got by with just a nice, clean shirt and dress slacks. I suppose a tie is a nice touch as well, but I don't think it's altogether necessary.
BTW, I hope you haven't been smoking weed or doing any other drugs. Some of those hotels do hair-analysis tests that can go back several months. Kind of insane trying to hire a kitchen staff that doesn't smoke pot, lol. Especially those damned dishwashers!
Anyways, good luck w/ the interview.

Re: I have a job interview today...
unless it is a five star restaurant I wouldn't suggest the suit jacket.
Dress shirt and a tie.
Oh, and good luck, and don't forget to sell yourself, thats the whole point.

Re: I have a job interview today...
I do alot of interviews for the company.
Depending on position that we are interviewing for, we often have to get in business attire and expect our candidates to show up in the same manner.
I would go no less than Docker/Shirt/Tie/Sports jacket.
You only have one chance to make a first impression.
;D
Good luck.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.
