Thread: I-94 BS Stops...

I read Webby's article about his contact with Wisconsin's finest on I-94 and it brought back sad memories... [}] During 1988 I helped a friend move his girlfriend from Grand Forks, ND to Milwaukee. I was driving his Chrysler minivan (real sports car, eh? [xx(] [td]), it was raining, and I had the cruise control set to the speed limit. Soon after crossing the WI border I heard a trucker on the CB say "Look out, her comes Smokey Eastbound!" I looked in my rear view mirror and saw flashing light quite a ways off in the distance, but coming in our direction. Soon, the flashing lights pulled behind me! [:O] I pulled over and one of Wisconsin's finest walked up to my window and told me I was doing at least ten over, and "Probably more because I didn't get a good mark on you." I told him my cruise was set to (speed limit at the time) and he brushed it off and told me to follow him and I could pay the fine with Visa, yada yada yada... [:O] At this point I tried to control my anger and politely said "Sir, I know for a fact I wasn't speeding, because I'm a police officer and I don't do that..." The cop paused, got a funny look on his face (i.e. "Oh oh... he knows this is a BS stop [B)]) and said "Uh, may I see your badge?" I showed him and he then said, "Well, slow it down." and quickly walked away. As we pulled back into traffic my buddy said "You weren't speeding, because I looked at the speedometer as soon as I heard the trucker. That was BS!"

I wasn't speeding, and even though I still stick up for MOST police, it was evident this WI dickhead with a badge was picking on out of state plates... I apologize on behalf of good cops out there, but unfortunately there are some a**h**es with badges... []
