yea see that helps put it in perspective why this is such a big deal...

    1988: $0.95
    1998: $1.06
    2008: $3.00+

its over doubled since Sept. 11, when in 2001 it was around $1.46

early 80's "crisis" was such a big deal.

What the heck, did you not just see what I put up one page earlier?
Adjust those numbers for inflation, here I'll do it.

    In 2007 Dollars
    1977
    2.26
    1978
    2.13
    1979
    2.57
    1980
    3.15

    Look familiar?
I don't know if gas is going to keep going up and up and up indefinetly, but I do know we've been down this road before.
Once again just throwing out how much something cost 30 years ago doesn't fully explain what is going on.

    Another example.
Guy says "I could by a whole meal in my day for a dollar."
The value of $1 in 1960 in 2007 buying power?
    $7.15

Ahhh, yeah....I did see your post...
Which is why I dug up some more information on the subject.
I wanted to show how the price of gas nearly doubled in four years.
I was trying to further backup your claim.
With that said, I have no idea what happened to the lengthy paragraph I had typed before "early 80's "crisis" was such a big deal..
Must have accidently deleted it before clicking "Post"
