    Here are some hobbies:
    What do you think:

    Video Games in general?
Video Games like World of Warcraft?
    Golf?
    Bowling?
    Poker?
    Tinkering with electronics?
    Gardening?
    Landscaping?
    Those can all be hobbies.

Anything you spend a significant amount of time on, that you don't get paid for doing. That's my definition of a hobby.
in that case my wife would love you.... that definition cover my list of jobs every weekend.. ;D
Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

Yeah, ruin the thread with a definition.

I guess your hobby is stalking hot political babes.
    That doesn't count.

    Everything counts.

If for some reason I decided to stare at cracks in ceilings for hours at the time. It would be my hobby. And I bet I'd be pretty darn good about it pretty soon.

What if I give you a dollar for staring at the cracks, that would make it a non-hobby by your definition.

That's true. However I'd say there has to be some kind of contingency on the income to make the jump.

Say you gave me a dollar a month to do fx., then it would not be a hobby, but a job.

I believe the cultural definition is more along the lines of the hobby being your main source of income or not.

At this point in time $1 would be his main source of income.

[/quote]Main source of income or secondary income doesn't matter by my definition. But hey, it's only a definition that can always be debated.

Maybe a new hobby would be running around nikked on a fishing boat with Ned and Marrdro while catching flukes.

Well, I tend to disagree... my mom can paint, she's been paid for her paintings; but it is definitely not her job....

That, in my opinion, is her hobby....
