High School Drug Testing Policy
http://www.oxford.k12.ms.us/recognition/district-news/archive/drug-testing.html
Heard this on the news this a.m.
If you're an athlete or drive to school you will be subject to random drug testing.
The idea is that if they help one kid it is worth it.
I know our whole hockey team would have been axed in HS if that were the case back then.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

Oxford Town, Oxford Town
Ev'rybody's got their heads bowed down
The sun don't shine above the ground
Ain't a-goin' down to Oxford Town
He went down to Oxford Town
Guns and clubs followed him down
All because his face was brown
Better get away from Oxford Town
Oxford Town around the bend
He come in to the door, he couldn't get in
All because of the color of his skin
What do you think about that, my frien'?
Me and my gal, my gal's son
We got met with a tear gas bomb
I don't even know why we come
Goin' back where we come from
Oxford Town in the afternoon
Ev'rybody singin' a sorrowful tune
Two men died 'neath the Mississippi moon
Somebody better investigate soon
Oxford Town, Oxford Town
Ev'rybody's got their heads bowed down
The sun don't shine above the ground
Ain't a-goin' down to Oxford Town

If they are old enough to take drugs they should be old enough to take random tests.
Take some of the dealers off the streets and out of the school area.

Take some of the dealers off the streets and out of the school area.It sounds like the student has to agree to the testing in order to participate in the programs mentioned. That may help the school pass the legality test. They're not testing everyone, only those people who agree to it.For the purposes of the drug testing policy, students who intend to obtain school driving privileges or participate on high school athletic teams or in extracurricular organizations of a competitive nature will be subject to testing.

You may think it's horseshit but don't you thik it would make the school that your children go to safer?
Why is it horseshit?
Why doesn't it make sense to you?
If you are going to say something at least back it up with why you think that way.
The only thing you mentioned is you don't want your children tested.
That's fine.
I don't argue that.
But to say it doesn't make sense to you doesn't make sense to me.

I see now where they are going with it, but it still seems shady to make the kids agree to drug testing if they want to play on the soccer team for instance.
This type of things keeps the good kids good, but does nothing for the troubled students who could really use extra curricular activities such as sports.
The kids experimenting with drugs are just going to quit going out for sports and end up doing a lot more drugs with all the extra time they have.
