    Here's a great poem

Cajun - I thought you would like this one!! Have a great day!!! Peace :thumbright:

Subject: READ ONLY IF YOU HAVE TIME FOR God

God, when I received this e-mail, I thought...

I don't have time for this... And, this is really inappropriate during work.

Then, I realized that this kind of thinking is... Exactly, what has caused lot of the problems in our world today.

We try to keep God in church on Sunday morning...

    Maybe, Sunday night...

And, the unlikely event of a midweek service.

We do like to have Him around during sickness...

    And, of course, at funerals.

However, we don't have time, or room, for Him during work or play...

Because... That's the part of our lives we think... We can, and should, handle on our own.

May God forgive me for ever thinking...

That... there is a time or place where...

HE is not to be FIRST in my life.

We should always have time to remember all HE has done for us.

If, You aren't ashamed to do this...

    Please follow the directions.

Jesus said, "If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father."

    Not ashamed?

Pass this on ONLY IF YOU MEAN IT!!

    Yes, I do Love God.

HE is my source of existence and Savior.

He keeps me functioning each and every day Without Him, I will be nothing. But, with Christ, HE strengthens me. (Phil 4:13)

    This is the simplest test.

If You Love God... And, are not ashamed of all the marvelous things HE has done for you...

Send this to ten people and the person who sent it to you!

I don't think I know 10 people who would admit they love Jesus. Do You love Him?

    Reply:
    Dear Concerned Student:
I am not allowed in schools.
    Sincerely,
    God
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    How did this get started?....

Let's see, I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained she
didn't want any prayer in our schools.
    And we said, OK...
Then, someone said you better not read the Bible in school, the Bible
that says "thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your
    neighbors as yourself,"
    And we said, OK...
    -----------------
Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they
misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage
    their self-esteem.
And we said, an expert should know what he's talking about so we won't
    spank them anymore...
Then someone said teachers and principals better not discipline our
children when they misbehave. And the school administrators said no faculty
member in this school better touch a student when they misbehave because we
don't want any bad publicity, and we surely don't want to be sued.
    And we accepted their reasoning...
Then someone said, let's let our daughters have abortions if they want,
and they won't even have to tell their parents.
And we said, that's a grand idea...
Then some wise school board member said, since boys will be boys and
they're going to do it anyway, let's give our sons all the condoms they want, so
they can have all the fun they desire, and we won't have to tell their
parents they got them at school.
And we said, that's another great idea... Then some of our top elected officials said it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs.
And someone else took that appreciation a step further and published
pictures of nude children and then stepped further still by making them
    available on the Internet.
And we said, everyone's entitled to free speech....
And the entertainment industry said, let's make TV shows and movies that
promote profanity, violence and illicit sex... And let's record music
    that
encourages rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes...
And we said, it's just entertainment and it has no adverse effect and
nobody takes it seriously anyway, so go right ahead...
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they
don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill
    strangers, classmates or even themselves.
Undoubtedly, if we thought about it long and hard enough, we could
figure it out. I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...
    "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW,"

Pass it on if you think it has merit! If not then just discard it...but
if you discard this thought process, then don't you dare sit back and
complain about what bad shape this world is in...

    Here's a great poem

The only problem that I have with this is that our society (read: parents) should not be relying on the schools to raise our children...that job falls squarely on the shoulders of the parents and the real problem is that too many parents are abdicating this job because they can't be bothered or they don't have enough time or they are too selfish to give their kids quality time or whatever else they can think of not to have meaningful discussions with their kids. It is NOT the job of the school system to teach religious values to our children...if parents want that, they should take their kids to church every day and have Bible study with their kids every night. It would be acceptable for some generic moral values to be taught in schools...just so long as no religious connotations are included...I doubt that Christian parents would appreciate our schools advocating Muslim or Buddhist tenets to our kids.

I just thought it was interesting that when they take God out of things you can see a correlation between the behavior in the post and the happenings. Since the assault on God in the public sector in the early sixties you can see violent crime has increased, although over the last few years has stabilized and even gone down for a year or two. Deviant behavior by our youth has gone up, you can see by the post those murders by young children. These things our parents never witnessed and even some things they did witness were isolated when compared to today!! I just thought you would find it interesting!!

I is interesting...but the cause and effect phenomenon that you frame up is not so simple...add in the fact that there are more working moms, more single moms, more parents with multiple jobs (as well as many other outside factors) and you will see that it is not so simple as just putting God into the schools...I stand by my point that the job of incorporating God in children's lives belongs in the home, not in the public sector.

Cajun - I whole heartedly agree that way too many parents are sherking their responsibility. You are 100% correct but then we have to ask do we just let these lost children go. Do we just watch them grow up bitter and let them do harm to society because we said it is someone else's problem. That makes other people all the more important to them, so they may grow up healthy and happy. And I never said I wanted school prayer. I want choice in schools. Like a speaker on graduation day that feeels God has played a significant role in their lives. They should be allowed to incorporate it in their speech. I do not want government to sponsor religion but let it grow free. And I want to show by actions that other people can and will help children if needed. The parents are too selfish and too afraid of their children not liking them. When they try to be their friend that's when they lose them.

I would also be OK with choice, both in schools and in a woman's reproductive decisions...choice is good. I would have to agree with most of the rest of what you said in your last post though.

Cajun - I didn't think you wanted to continue that discussion about abortion. I don't feel killing a life is a choice. That baby has no choice, where is their right to live? I know you are wrong and you THINK I am wrong but we can continue the discussion. I am not sure how productive it will be. I have tried to explain that any law has some morality behind it. You obviously think differently, so be it.
