And this is my mandolin. I bought it off craigslist for $100, it was built in the 1920's and refurbished in the 70's. The woman just needed to get rid of it.

It originated in the Virginia area. A woman found it in her attic in the 70's, took it to be refurbished... but then never picked it up.

Beautiful instrument though:

Nice.
I play Bass.
Sure, the Squire PBass is cheap, but it sounds good to me, and it came with wires, backpack style soft case and practice amp for $300.

Got a hard rock/heavey metal/punk sort of band coming together...the name is Monkey Knife Fight...Look Out!
Somebody gave the monkeys knives!!

Re: The Guitar/Musical Instruments Thread

My regular six-string guitar is a Montana guitar that [s]I[/s] my parents bought about 16/17 years ago. I don't have a picture of it handy, and when I search for "montana guitars" all I get is a bunch of purple washburns with Hanna Montana stuff stamped all over them.

Here are some of my more recent acquisitions:

Recently, I got to jam with some friends out on the street during Kenosha's Blooming Days festival. It was the first time I got to put my mandolin into group action since getting it for christmas. I discovered that I really need to get a strap for the thing. (the guy in the red is playing my 12-string, which, by that point in the afternoon, was an 11-string. Go figure. You lend your guitar to someone, and all of a sudden, your 'G' string snaps.)

Cool stuff, josdin00. I like the backpacker guitar, my buddy has one. Those things are so handy and sound pretty good also.

Nice 12-string.

Re: The Guitar/Musical Instruments Thread

I recently splurged for some guitars:

Here's my electric.
Its
Washburn Idol WI65C.
It won Guitar World Magazine's award for best electric unde $1000.
It is awesome for the older rock stuff, as well playing some metal.
instead of Tone Knobs (which i'd never use anyway) it has something called VCC knobs, or voice contour control.
What it does is allow you to switch between Humbucker sound and Single Coil Sound.

bought this one used for $500.
It was sitting on a rack beside a brand new one fo $999

This is my acoustic.

Its a Simon & Patrick Showcase Mahogany.
If you are nt familiar with S&P, they are a Canadian guitar maker, a branch of Godin guitars, which also include Seagull, Richmond, Art & Lutherie, Norman and Lapatrie.
This guitar is awesome, and I was lucky enough to get it at my local music stores 50% off sale for $800
