Thread: grossman on my flight

Hey yall, i just couldn't wait to get back and post this.
I know were all vikings fans here but i just giggity when i see celebritys.
so anyway, my wife, son and I flew out of Chicago-Midway (southwest airlines) on Fri 10/20, at 9:10am headed to louisville international airport, ky.
so my wife and i sit in the 3rd row cuz we get preboarding (the only plus for traveling with younglings) and about the 12 person to board the plane was none other than Rex Grossman.
i leaned toward my wife and told her, and of course she didn't know who the hell that was.
anyway he walks by as i wasn't positive, but i knew it had to be him.
as i watch him go sit down a few rows back i see the guy sitting next to me nodding his head up and down saying "yep" that's him.
so i then knew it was him.
Grossman wasn't even wearing a hat, just some headphones and was traveling by himself.
i respected his privacy and didn't bother him on the flight.
nor did i bother him when we got to louisville.
the only proof i have is a pretty ugly camera phone pic.
he started to turn the other way when he saw me standing in front of him with my phone pointed at him.
i woulda stopped him if i had a real camera, but that was in my checked baggage.
i just wish i was wearing a vikings shirt and had a camera on me as I woulda tried for something great.
oh well, it will never happen again, but i just thought i'd post it here cuz i don't see celebs everyday.
especially on a plain old southwest airliner.
i heard he was from indiana, and thought that he musta grew up near the kentucky/'indiana border.
dunno.
but i know it was him.
man i wish i had my camera.
anyway, go ahead and flame me for this long and stupid post, but it was fun for me.
anyone else have any stories???

I agree, a swift kick would have been like a friendly hello.

Last year I saw Ron Mexico at the airport and yelled out his chosen alias.
He looked at me, but wasn't very pleased with my greeting.
I didn't lose any sleep over it.

Did you go up to him and say "Ill vote for you if you vote for me."

I saw walter payton when he was at the Mayo Clinic right before he died.
I have seen quite a few celebs when I lived in Rochester.
King Hussein of Jordan before he died, george carlin to name a few.

You should have gone up to him and gave him the denny talk.

That's pretty cool...although you should have at least pushed him out of the boarding tunnel.

I was with some Vikings in the Minneapolis Hilton back in 2000. Todd Bouman was one of them, the other two I didn't recognize by face. That was pretty neat.

I saw Deuce McAllister in the lobby of a hotel in Balitmore around in December of '02.

Hrm....about a month ago I was on a train with the governor of our state (Ed Rendell) going from Philly to New York. That was cool, even though I'm not a big fan of his.

I think that's about as far as my experiences go though. It seems like if you travel enough you're going to run into someone somewhere. It's certainly fun when you do though!

I went to a Meijer shopping center awhile back and The Fridge was there signing something. I didn't bother to get in line because I had being surrounded by Bears fans

I saw Derek Jeter at the Block E movie theater.
I also saw the whole timberwolves team at a restaurant and got all of them to sign a ball.

I got to talk to olin kreutz and get his autograph along with dominic raiola of the lions a few
years back at a football banquet. My football coach was kreutz's brother in law. Prtty sweat.

also met julian peterson, mike rumph and a few otehr niner scrubs a few years back as well.
