    God Bless...

I'll understand, Webby, if you get angry with the following post. Sorry, but just gotta say this...didn't know where else to post it:
To all of you in here who are Catholic, I want you to know that everything will be all right. Even though I'm not Catholic, I'm Christian, I still feel your pain. Pope John Paul II was definately a great man of God, a great humanitarian, etc. Keep your heads up high, lads and lasses. Everything happens for a reason. It will all be all right.

I don't really need to know anyone else on here's personal religious beliefs. I think it would be just as easy to say that the Pope was a good man without divulging that information. He was definitely a liberal and progressive Pope and that posed well for PEOPLE (not just Christians) everywhere. Here's to the next guy ... something tells me Pope John Paul II was a Vikings fan anyways ... to great a man not to be.

Post whatever you like in the clubhouse...its all good and I won't let people harass you on that.

It is sad in his passing...I am catholic as well and this really is the first pope I can recall since I was young when he came into the papacy.

I think its wise and respectful to pray for a decent man's passing and this crosses all boundaries.

May God bless him, his family, his followers, and everyone else for that matter. This is indeed a sad time but I believe he has found a much better place of peace in the heavens above.

    Re: God Bless...

You all won't believe what happened a few hours ago...
As most of you might know by now, I work for Wisconsin's number one newspaper (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel -sports department). Some guy (sounded like he was in his 70's or 80's) had the nerve to call and ask WHY the PGA Tour wasn't showing on TV. He was mad that the network was covering the death of Pope John Paul II, instead of showing the game. He said something like even though he's no Catholic, he understands how great the Pope was, however, all of this no-showing of golf on TV (just last week, the tournament was delayed due to rain)was crazy. Can you believe that? This is a very sad, important day. What's a GAME, compared to the loss of one of the world's most beloved men of God? NOTHING!!! He sure had some nerve, I tell ya. Even though I was shocked...couldn't believe this man didn't see what all the fuss (coverage) was about...needing to interrupt our regularly scheduled programs, I simply told him that the Networks do what they want to do. I asked him why was he calling us, of all people? He said so I could tell my boss, as though my boss was in any position to do anything about the Networks coverage of the Pope. He said he needed to vent his anger, and got angry went I CONTINUED to tell him that WE AT THE JOURNAL SPORTS DEPARTMENT couldn't do anything about it (not that we would if we had any power to do so...this is the Pope we're talking about! This isn't a game that can be recorded and shown at a later time). Yikes! So people, eh?

Although I am not Catholic and disagree with alot of the Catholic churches teachings, this is a sad day for all Christians. Regardless of denomination we are all brothers who have taken Jesus as our saviour. I will pray for the Pope tonight...a first for me.

    Re: God Bless...

That was pretty bad of that guy to call in. Especially for the PGA.

Not catholic, but appreciate the guy and his efforts. For most of us on this board, he's the only pope we've ever known. Will be odd to get used to a new face inside the popemobile.

As one of his cardinals said on the news, though...it's not a bad or sad thing. For the pope, its just the beginning of a grand new adventure.

    Godspeed.
