I saw it last night all I have to say is Face the facts. It was a terrible movie. They completely ruined what could have been a great film. They never explained how Robbie got to Boston, or why the aliens have been planning the attack since before humans existed, but didn't take the planet over back then. I thought the ending was just terrible. If you can look past the plot holes and only pay attention to the speacial affects and things blowing up than yeah this movie was good. Also a super advanced species of aliens with technology beyond our widest dreams that had been watching to planet for millions of years... and they didnt know what bacteria was. STUPID.

Re: GO SEE "WAR OF THE WORLDS"

There is another War of the Worlds that was just released on video. It stars (I say that lousely) C Thomas Howell, one of the worst movies I have ever seen!!!! It is a piece of trash!

Do not waste the 4 bucks to rent it, or that part of your life you will never get back!

Went to see Batman Returns on an Imax screen, it rocks!! Good movie, I liked the first half better than the last half.

Will check out War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise soon.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Yeah, but they were watching from afar and while they may have "understood" they still did not have the immunities they may have thought. This holds true (at least very closely) to the book and the original movie, so I would have been dissapointed if they did it any other way. I was kind of ticked about the son getting to Boston, made it a little too cheesy for me ...
But all in all they did a good job of holding to the original movie/book and making the main character a different point of interest and the special effects are good.
The whole point of the book was that we didn't know why they were here and noone would know and that is what made it scary ... we are so spoiled by having to have every "twist" revealed to us ... but I mean c'mon, you think if we were being wiped out they would stop to tell us why?

Why? Maybe because they want the planet for themselves. Do you explain to the ant colony in your basement why they are about to die before you give them some RAID?

Im glad someone agrees with me! I thought the movie was horrible. Special effects are not "special" any more...sorry Spielberg, but movies need plots, not just things blowing up. I can sum up the plot in one sentence: Aliens are buried in the earth, they come out and attempt to kill all of the humans on the planet, and fail because they get sick. I was expecting a major twist and there ended up being no twists at all. Guess its on to Fantastic 4 for me!
