There is already a tax on the books that should be used.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

My bigest concern is that the Vikings will no longer be the Vikings. Any team that moves has to change it's name. Goodbye to the Vikings!

I just piss and bone and hack on the local press for the issue.
Kindof blame them because they, believe it or not, set the tone in the state.

If they were a bit more supportive of the Owner, the team and the coaching staff, I am sure the voting public would be to.
LMFAO! You are showing your true hate for the local media. To bad IMO you are wrong. How can you sit there and say that when they just raised taxes? The state is to blame. They don't give a pooh about the Vikings. The media does. What makes you think they don't support the staff?
    Don't get me wrong.
I blame the elected officials a bit more than I do the press.
Being a out of stater (now) I don't have much to say about that so I hack on someone who makes me feel better when I do.

Isn't that kindof what our friend was asking?

anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this emotional time
Again, I hack on the sports hacks.
Thats how I deal with it.

    ;D
And that does a world of good.

The blame needs to start with Red McCombs.
He HAD a receptive legislature and a loving populace and screwed it all up with his hackneyed used-car-saleman BS.

And now the economy is in the shitter.
It would be stupid for any state rep to stand up and say "Let's build the Vikings a billion-dollar stadium!" w/out any money from the NFL.
And they don't have any now.

The Metrodome will be fine for the next few years.
It does NOT have to happen this year and I do NOT believe that Wilf is thinking of moving the team.

    =Z=
That is the exact attitude that will get them gone.

Lets not forget, there are areas out there that already can or will accomodate a NFL franchise and be damn happy to do it.

    http://www.alamodome.com/
    http://www.losangelesfootballstadium.com/

We failed here in Tidewater to the the Nationals.
Biggest reason was the rode infrastructure out to Bowers Hill (and I believe MLB really wanted a team in DC).
Since then we have increased the beltway (I-664).

Long story short, don't think for a minute that the Wilfs haven't already scoped out areas that have interest and the economy to support a team.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

No there isn't. Hasn't been for 25 years.

The tax that was used to partially finance the Metrodome was instituted in 1977. From 1977 to 1979, there was a 2% metro wide tax on liquor sales that raised $8 Million. In 1979, the tax was shifted to the City of Minneapolis and removed from the rest of the metro area. The tax was increased to 3% and included liquor sales and hotel accommodations.

The tax was lowered to 2% in 1984 and raised $15.8 Million. The tax was repealed in 1984. The rest of the debt on the Metrodome was retired with the sale of the Met Center land in 1998.

Would the NFL use a possible Super Bowl as a carrot on a stick for MN voters?

Your blame starts with someone who owned the team four years ago? That does a world of good.
