LOS ANGELES - Gerald R. Ford, who picked up the pieces of Richard Nixon’s scandal-shattered White House as the 38th and only unelected president in America’s history, has died, his wife, Betty, said Tuesday. He was 93.

RIP, the greatest President never elected, and easliy better than the majority of them.

In all seriousness, I mean that last statement. At the very least, he didn't screw anything up, which is more than can be said for the five presidents that served on either side of him.

    Godspeed, Jerry.

Ford played center on the University of Michigan's 1932 and 1933 national champion football teams. He got professional offers from the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers, but chose to study law at Yale instead, working his way through as an assistant varsity football coach and freshman boxing coach.

RIP to one of the better US presidents who had a great deal of respect overseas.

    Rest in peace Mr. Ford.
