Anyway....Duke played a good game, but Georgetown played excellent. Paulus really gave the game away for the Dukies. He had a few big turnovers down the stretch, not to mention the one on the final play of the game where the Dukies could have tied. Hats off to Georgetown.

Besides, it's not like my Dukies can win them all right? This is good, now the pressure is off and they can go 37-1....all the way thru the national title game fools!
37-1 ? Yea maybe, till they meet up with UCONN, then nighty night Duke....Lights Out....
I saw this Ned and I thought I would post it for you.

    http://sports.excite.com/news/01212006/v9157.html

With the nation's top ranking up for grabs after losses by No. 1 Duke and No. 2 Florida earlier in the day, the Huskies (16-1 overall, 4-1 Big East) didn't play like a team deserving of the honor until it mattered most.
I have a funny feeling that Duke will still be number one on Monday.
But they still beat a RANKED team, while Dook lost to an UNRANKED one!

IF Dook is still #1 after losing, then it only proves that the polls are rigged!
IMHO! this is how I "think" the poll will look.
    Conn #1
    Duke #2
    Memphis #3
    Florida #4

I can live with that. The reason why I said that is that they still have 16-1 record while 15-1 for U Conn. When G-Town plays like they did, that is a freak of nature. It shouldn't be held against them if the were or weren't ranked. G-Town played like they were the #2 team in the country and they deserve to move up a few spots from where they were positioned before coming into this game.

The one thing that I didn't factor in is that UConn just Def. Georgetown 74-67 (1/14). It was not a wooping but Uconn did win. If G-Town would have shot 61% from the field against UConn, UConn would have gotten beat also. Which would have given G-Town 22.5 more points (theoretically), well more than the 7 point difference. (sorry ned, I had to try and justify it somehow)

The USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches Top 25 college basketball coaches' poll, with number of first-place votes and record in parentheses, total points and previous ranking. Team records are through the date the poll was released:
Sounds like a lot of room for a bias or two in this system. If it was on RPI rankings, it might actually equate out with out rationalization. It is an opinion poll and they take into account many opinions.

from the ESPN poll I took:

    3) Which team would get your vote for No. 1 in the polls this week?

    44.3% Connecticut
    29.7% Duke
    13.2% Florida
    7.4% Memphis
    5.4% Illinois

    4) Which do you think is the best team in college basketball? IMHO this is what I think!

    40.9% Duke
    30.0% Connecticut
    6.2% Memphis
    5.9% Villanova
    5.5% Florida
    5.0% Illinois
    4.2% Texas
    2.3% Gonzaga

    5) How will Duke's season end?

49.4% Knocked out in Final Four
26.0% Knocked out before Final Four
    24.7% Win national title

Good article that you might want to read if you didn't see it on the 1st page.

It is great to be hated, in sports, that means you are doing something way too right!!!!!

For the record, I don't hate any of your teams. I have no animosity towards them.

I believe it wholeheartedly. McRoberts will most likely go pro after this season so its safe to say that they will lose their four best players and replace them with who, John Scheyer? The talent in the backcourts at KU and UNC next year will be far better than dooks and they will have more depth in the front court. Believe what you want about UNC but Roy is killing it in recruiting and their '06 class may be the best ever and at least the best since the Fab 5. I am not a UNC fan but I follow college basketball closely and people better watch out for UNC and KU. ratface is getting outrecruited by them. They are down this year because of youth but the talent lined up in the upcoming seasons is far greater.

UConn claims coaches' poll top spot; Duke No. 2

Duke's first loss of the season cost it more than just its perfect record.

The 17-1 Blue Devils, who suffered an 87-84 loss at Georgetown on Saturday, fell to No. 2 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll for the first time all season. Connecticut, which beat two ranked teams last week and also got a little help from previously unbeaten and second-ranked Florida's 80-76 loss to then-unranked Tennessee, jumped two spots to No. 1.

The Huskies, 16-1, had been ranked second in the coaches' poll five times this season. But an 88-80 win over then-No. 20 Syracuse and a 71-58 victory over then-No. 15 Louisville sent it to the top spot. UConn received 19 first-place votes and 751 total points, three more than Duke, which still received 10 first-place votes.

Memphis (17-2) moved up to No. 3 ahead of the Gators (17-1), and Texas (16-2) slid back into the top five.

    Only 3 points separates 1 and 2!
