    George Mikan, Former Minneapolis Laker, First NBA MVP, Died

    George Mikan, professional basketball's first dominant big man who led the Minneapolis Lakers to five NBA championships, has died, family members said today. He was 80.

    SHIT! Mikan was the man.. I read alot about him and seen alot of stuff on him.. The mikan hook was the shit.. God bless his family

    It really sucks that his family had to sell off most of his awards and memorabilia because he didn't make squat in his playing days! Too bad today's players have to use every dollar they have to feed their families instead of contributing to the pension fund to help those who built the league for peanuts.

    Yeah that really stinks that todays fatcats wont pony up and take care of the guys who built the house they are living in now.

    God Bless George and his family. I will always fondly remember the days as a young big man in training that I did the Mikan Drill for hours on end until dizzy from looking up and exerting myself for extended periods. We'll all miss you George!!

    He was Shaq before Shaq was Shaq. He was the Big Man in basketball in the 60s. He made playing a big man popular.

    All I know is, we did his drill a lot during basketball season...and I hated it!
