Federal Grand Jury Indicts Barry Bonds

The indictment, unsealed Thursday by federal prosecutors in San Francisco, is the culmination of a four-year federal probe into whether he lied under oath to a grand jury investigating steroid use by elite athletes.
The indictment comes three months after the 43-year-old Bonds, one of the biggest names in professional sports, passed Hank Aaron to become baseball's career home run leader, his sport's most hallowed record...While Bonds was chasing Aaron amid the adulation of San Franciscans and the scorn of baseball fans almost everywhere else, due to his notoriously prickly personality and nagging steroid allegations, a grand jury quietly worked behind closed doors to put the finishing touches on the long-rumored indictment.
"I'm surprised," said John Burris, one of Bonds' attorneys, "but there's been an effort to get Barry for a long time. I'm curious what evidence they have now they didn't have before."
The indictment charges Bonds with lying when he said that he didn't knowingly take steroids given to him by his personal trainer Greg Anderson. He also denied taking steroids at anytime in 2001 when he was pursuing the single season home-run record.

Baseball star Barry Bonds was indicted today on perjury and obstruction of justice charges stemming from a years-long federal probe that examined his alleged use of steroids. A copy of the Bonds indictment, which was filed today in U.S. District Court in San Francisco, can be found below. According to the five-count indictment, Bonds lied to a federal grand jury in December 2003 when asked about his use of steroids. During that appearance, Bonds, 43, repeatedly denied that his trainer, Greg Anderson, provided him with performance-enhancing drugs like human growth hormone and the illegal products distributed by the notorious Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative.

Good, now we can listen to Barry Bonds updates for the next 6 months.
They already cancelled PTI on ESPN for a half hour of "Breaking News:
Barry Bonds is a slick willy!"
Sucks for his kids though I guess, if he ever sees real prison time.
Re: Federal Grand Jury Indicts Barry Bonds
I'm sure it is all just a misunderstanding and he will clear it up

Re: Federal Grand Jury Indicts Barry Bonds
I really don't care one way or the other, however..........Based on what I know of Mr. Bonds and his health concerns, would/could he have hit all those balls if he wasn't on the field?
By the way, our local sports radio station is saying stuff that the difference between the Cream and the Injections are different.
The one test he is positive for is from the shots.
I am not sure, but I don't think there is anyway you can "Unknowingly" take a shot and not know it.
I am sure the Knees wouldn't have allowed him to do it my friends.
Because he used steriods to keep his knees healthy (now that we have a positive test) he extended his playing time were the real Home Run King didn't.
That is why I believe the record is tainted.

Life of a don, lights keep glowing
Coming in the club with that fresh sh1t on
With something crazy on my arm, uh-uh-uh
And here's another hit, Barry Bonds
Re: Federal Grand Jury Indicts Barry Bonds
Barry Bonds previously said he would boycott the HoF if the record ball was introduced with an asterisk on it as planned.
I don't think he can argue that anymore...
Re: Federal Grand Jury Indicts Barry Bonds
This means nothing to me. It is possible to indict a ham sandwich. Innocent until proven guilty!
