Re: Favorite Kirby Puckett memories
My favorite memory is of a man who represented his team, his sport and his nation as a true American sports icon...it's too bad that we couldn't have had someone of his caliber representing the USA in the World Baseball Classic...then the WHOLE WORLD would know of the class and the passion that Kirby brought to the game...RIP Kirby.
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

My favorite memories of Kirby is when he gave me a baseball after bp at one of the games I went too. My family and I sat in centerfield just to be that much closer to puck.

Best ever for me was when he hit that home run in Game 6 of the '91 Series. I was watching with a bunch of friends, with a lot on the line. My dad and I had tickets to Game 7. Because of his home run, the Series went to 7, and I got to go. Thanks, Puck. I'm gonna miss ya'.

Yeah. Family's still there. I get back when I can to watch all my favorite teams (Vikes, Twinkies, Wild, T-Wolves, Gophs . . . ). I still have everything from that game . . . tickets, programs, you name it. One of the best games in Series history (if not THE best), and one of the best nights of my life--with my dad, and everything. Pucks game saving catch, and home run, made it all happen. Thanks to him."Veni, Vidi, Vikings!"--Julius Caesar

When he threw the ball all the way from centerfield to home plate to get the runner out. I don't remember the particular game though.
I'm thinking it was a playoff game.

Re: Favorite Kirby Puckett memories
I don't have a specific baseball moment since I was pretty young when he was with the Twins, but I do remember when I was a little girl it was the 87 world series and my parents were videotaping my sister and I in our pajamas waving around our homer hankies. They asked us "girls who's your favorite Twin" and in unison we both said "Kirby Puckett" in cute little 5 and 3 year old voices. I don't know how I remember that, that's just one thing I thought of when asked to pick a memory. I also remember going to Twins fest as a little girl and being on my dad's shoulders all excited to get a glimpse of Kirby. Rest in Peace Kirby!

Re: Favorite Kirby Puckett memories
Game 6. The catch and the HR. He told the team he was going to carry them to game 7 and he did just that. Even with all his fame and fortune it was not about the money and he made sure he was still.....a man
Reminds me of a post I saw on espn
Time: Late summer, 1985 through '96.
Place: Anylake, West Central Minnesota.
Setting: Fishing boat, with at least two anglers. One transistor radio, tuned to local station on the Twins Network.
Angler 1: What's the score?
Angler 2: 3-1 Yankees, middle of the ninth.
A1: Who's up our half?
A2: Puck's up third.
A1: Got 'em right where we want 'em.
