Favorite Kirby Puckett memories
In honor of the passing of "Puck", I would like to start a thread where you can put your favorite memories of Kirby.
One of the first ones that I can remember is that, the day he was called up to the majors, he didn't have enough money to pay for the cab fair from the airport in California to the ballpark, and had to borrow the money from a teammate!

Re: Favorite Kirby Puckett memories
My memory basically explains it all! I was a huge Twins fan and at the age of 10 I went to my first Twins game with my family. We were waiting outside of the dome waiting for autographs and walking to the stadium was my favorite player and idol. (KIRBY PUCKETT) I was so excited that I couldn't even talk. When most players would have walked right by the rash of fans begging for thier autograph, Kirby walked right up to me and signed my hat and baseball. He then started talking to me and asking how old I was and if I wanted to play for the Twins someday. It was honestly the greatest memory from my childhood. I wasn't the only kid that he did that for. There must have been 50 of us out there and he did the same thing for all of us. What a guy. He will be missed!
RIP KIRBYGod Bless America, & the MINNESOTA VIKINGS!!!

Jeaze, not Kirby.
As I write this my body is tingling and my eyes are tearing. Man, I loved that guy so much. I had so much respect for how he played the game and the kind of teammate he was.
That is so terrible that such a great person died so young. I know a lot of great people die young, but this one really hurts.
I am glad that I had the honor of meeting him and rubbing that bald head of his.
God bless Puck and his family!
Memories....all of them!

Taking my son to games when he was young, and hearing the way they announced K-I-R-B-Y P-U-C-K-E-T-T ! ! From that time forward my son's all-time favorite player was KIRBY'S BUCKET !!

Re: Favorite Kirby Puckett memories
The weekend in 1987 in Milwaukee he had - he went 10-11 (4 for 5 and 6 for 6) - that basically locked up the Twins' division title...
