Mine used to be the Simpsons but since I started watching Family Guy, it became my favorite.
FG is hysterical and often takes things a tad over the edge but I love that show!

I'd agree.
Simpsons has slipped from my top show, and Family guy sits atop my lsit of animated comedies.
Some of the stuff is pretty controversial, but oh so great.
I like Simpsons, Family Guy and South Park, in no particular order.
I think the most funny of the three is probably South Park....but they're all done pretty well.
FG can be a bit annoying at times and occasionally to the point of just plain stupid...Like the time he hits his knee on teh ground and the show devotes 60 seconds to him saying "ouch", over and over and over again.
how did i forget south park?
Thats by far #1
Family Guy #1 by far.
Closest second is Robot Chicken.
South Park I love..... best other I liked which wasn't animated but puppets was Spitting Image - wonderful programme
;D
Southpark

And "Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast" fucking rocked, too.
=Z=
Currently, Futurama (new episodes coming soon!) is probably the best animated show on television.
Choosing historically is a bit tougher. Simpsons had about 4 or 5 truly great seasons. South Park has long been hit or miss (but when they hit, they friggin crush it out of the park). I'd have to say these two lead the way. Followed by (in no particular order):
Family Guy (also very hit and miss, often in the same episode)
Looney Tunes (these are so much fun to go back and watch as an adult, completely different than watching them as a kid)
Aquateen Hunger Force (the funny wore off fairly quickly, but man it was funny while it lasted)
Space Ghost (buddy of mine went as Brak one year for Halloween. Damn that was a great costume. Oh yeah, this show rocked too. Better guests than Terry Gross)
Spongebob Squarepants (either you get it or you don't)
EDIT: Stupid spellcheck. I knew it was Looney, not Loony.

Spongebob... I worked in a daycare for two years and had to watch a lot of this, found myself laughing quite a bit.
