Fans of teams that have moved
When the Lakers moved to L.A. did people in Minnesota stop following the NBA or stick with the Lakers or follow someone else?
Are there less NHL fans in Minnesota since the North Stars left?
Was it hard to follow the Wild at first?
Do people in Houston follow the Texans or Titans more?
Do people in Baltimore follow the Colts or Ravens more?
Did people in Cleveland give up on the NFL when the Browns left for 5 years?

Re: Fans of teams that have moved
For myself, I used to really enjoy the NHL and going to watch the Whalers play in Hartford.
When they moved to N.C. and became the Hurricanes, I pretty much lost intrest in them and stopped following them.
Never had a NFL Team here, and as far as the NBA goes, I follow the Celtics.
Baseball, the same, never had a Major league team here to follow, but I've always been a Dodgers fan.
Sometimes you will find me watching a New Britain Rock Cats game,
farm team to the TWINS.....
I LOVE THE SMELL OF VICTORY IN THE MORNING AIR.

Re: Fans of teams that have moved
I was only a casual fan but, when the NHL let the North Stars leave Minnesota, (one of the best hockey states in the country) for Texas,(basically a desert), I stopped following hockey completely.
Why must you defend everything this FO does....to the point of making your self look like a yes man.

Re: Fans of teams that have moved
Although in general sports teams are not franchises over here and do not move around, when the Scottish Claymores (NFL Europe) moved to Germany I stopped watching the league altogether.

Re: Fans of teams that have moved
I guess if the Vikings did ever move I probably would lose interest. Especially if the logo and colors changed. It really depends on that and what players move with the team. I will eventually move to Arizona this year so if the Vikings leave I guess I become a Cardinals fan.

Re: Fans of teams that have moved
I was a kid ... but I remember the Cardinals leaving St. Louis pretty vividly. I was born in the Lou and was a huge Cards fan. I was about 9 when they played their final season there and were in the playoff hunt despite knowing they were leaving.
The last week of the season they got bumped in a loss to the Cowboys. I guess because I knew the players and all that I was a Cards fan the next year or two, but then I decided it was time to get a new team. It just felt wrong cheering for them after they left.
I latched on to the Vikes ... and even though I have no ties to Minnesota ... if they were to leave ... I would have a tough time being a football fan really.

Re: Fans of teams that have moved
I live near Cleveland, and grew up a Browns fan, also developed a liking and fanhood for the Vikings, which I think made it easier when the Browns left.
My dad, however, was a Browns fan, that's all he'd ever known.
For about 3 years, during Brett Favre's prime, he decided to jump on that bandwagon.
But, in general, the majority of the people that were Browns fans here, are Browns fans again, and aside from the Steelers, hate the Ravens more than any other team.542cbf305f333b0554e8ffa937f852d6

Re: Fans of teams that have moved
Cleveland fans did not become Ravens fans.
Some migrated to the Steelers.
Most came back to being a Browns fans in '99.
I know 3 people from the Houstan area.
All 3 are Titans fans.
My best friend is from Missouri.
He is not a Cards fan, he is a Rams fan.

I haven't watched a single hockey game since the North Stars left.
