Explosive device damages Times Square armed forces recruiting station; police investigating

    By DEREK ROSE, Associated Press

NEW YORK - An explosive device caused minor damage to an empty military recruiting station in Times Square early Thursday, shaking guests in hotel rooms high above.

Police blocked off the area to investigate the explosion, which occurred at about 3:45 a.m., shattering the station's glass entryway. No one was injured.

"If it is something that's directed toward American troops than it's something that's taken very seriously and is pretty unfortunate," said Army Capt. Charlie Jaquillard, who is the commander of Army recruiting in Manhattan.

He said no one was inside the station, where the Marines, Air Force and Navy also recruit.

In a few circles I run in there is a belief that we will start to see some of these types of things as we draw nearer to the election.

Rationale is they will want to try to sway the election ala the last Spanish election.

Regardless, in a way, the world as we know it is getting sadder everyday.

Can't wait for Wildman to graduate High School so I can buy a chunk of land and move to the country.

    And a fence.
I learned how to work with explosives when I was in the MNARNG.
Probably shouldn't come around to visit unless you let me know ahead of time.

Will allow me to lock up the killer beagles and disable all the trip wires.

Here's another incident in CA to deter Marine recruitments. These people just have no clue.

Re: Explosive device damages Times Square armed forces recruiting station

I just heard a couple of weeks ago that two more (Male and a Female) kids that I've watched grow up just stepped to the plate and have joined the service.
Female to the Airforce and the Male to the Marines.

I feel for thier parents but kindof stick my chest out a bit when I see our young Americans take defending thier country to heart.
It means a heck of alot more in this day and age than when I stepped up my friends.

I was only looking for a job, not a career and no one shot at us back then.
These kids know what they are getting into and are our nations finest.
