Today was a sad day! An exchange student from my high school is leaving town. I guess her and her family from Switzerland are going to travel around the U.S. in a rented RV (no word on whether Robin Williams is going with).

Exchange students are awesome though. You can really learn alot about other countries and also alot about your own. Anyone here have any awesome exchange students (or horror stories for that matter)?
I thought that was just a MINNESOTAN saying!

    Was she HOT???
I don't know man....she was from Switzerland. She looked pretty Swiss.

And I'm not sure I follow on the whole "going with" thing.
In the rest of the US, we all say, "going with you" or "going with me" or "going with us"....you get the picture?
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

Yeah, WVV cleared things up for me. I had no idea that people didn't say that.

    Re: Exchange Students

I love exchange students! I learn as much (or more) from them about their country as they do about ours.

Would we do as well in their country trying to say what we want to :?: I think they do very well under the circumstances.

It would scare me to death to have to speak another language and have someone laugh at me! ale:

The thing about European exchange students, is that they are taught British English before they come over here. On her first day in our school, one of the exchange students from Italy was asking everyone in our class if they had any "rubbers". After much laughing and clarification, a student informed her that she actually wanted what was called an "eraser"
You might want to know it's not only Europe, but pretty much the rest of the world, where it's british english that's taught in schools.

I figured as much, but we haven't really had any exchange students from other places, so I wasn't positive.
