God, I had such fun when interviewing for a job a while back when I said you have to explain things in the simplest terms possible otherwise people won't understand fully what you're saying. It might be one of the many reasons why I didn't get the job, but it felt good to justify why people are stupid and you have to treat them as such.

Pretty much; although I didn't use the word "stupid" once. I said you have to break down every piece of language you use to a maximum of 3 syllables, cut out any and all jargon, even the simple stuff like acronyms or abbreviations, labour every point you make so the people you're talking to can't fail to understand what you're talking about, be repetitive so the people who didn't quite understand it the first time have a chance to catch up, and if possible reinforce key words through use an overhead projector or a slide-show or somesuch so you control the tempo of presentation and what your audience is focusing on.

I was probably the most patronising interviewee they had for that job; but frankly, I don't care.
