    Re: EURO 2008

Great game and if the Dutch carry on like that then a place in the final does beckon. I imagine the French are not going to be looking forward to Friday's game based on their performance and the Dutch one.
The Italians looked in the middle of the second half that they could drag themselves back into the game. The Dutch did look a little vulnerable then, more through tiredness than anything, but they did well to hold on and get the third on another great counter attack. Best game of the tournament so far.

    Re: EURO 2008

France shows they have lost the magic.. and holland has picked up pace to show EU they are here for the cup!

Fr vs Rom game was long.. .. very long..
infact i almost fell alseep in parts of it. It seems that le blue have lost that magical touch (probably from the day they lost to Greece in the 04 cup.)

    Now Italy Holland!!
that was an instant classic. many many chances from both teams. up and down play. Ok you can say roud's first goal was offsides, but it did not stifle the attack from holland, and the smoothness they showed in passing and ball control.

the italians.. finally got some life thrusted foward in the 2nd half, but van da saar was brilliant in goal!!
denying them left and right. I might have to change my predictions for this one as i now see Italy following Holland as the clear winners of that group.

    Tonight.. GREECE!!!

I give a lot of credit to Netherlands for their great performance, specially Van der Vaar and Kuyt ,Italy was a toy in the dutch hands.

    France and Romania most
dissapointing game of the Euro, neither France nor Romania wanted to win the game so it was a sad 0-0 tie.

Today is our turn, fingers crossed ,Vamos España!!!!!!!

    Congrats El Vikingo.
I can hear the guys down at the Venta now.....

    A little history........

When I was stationed in Spain I lived on the outskirts of a little (not that little) farming community called Chipiona.
Just down the road was a little toppa bar called Venta El Canario were I could get a cold draft and watch "Football" with the locals.

With my limited Spanglish I couldn't understand much or hold long conversations but they were farmers and not city folk (my kindof people) who tolerated the dumb American.

Probably cause I like to buy beer.

    ;D

Anyway, long story short, I loved to try to get into the games and players but really never got to love it as much as they did.
Of course we had some interesting discussions about which game was really "Football".

Again, I can hear the guys now.
    ;D

It all depends were you were born.
For us europeans Football or Soccer is THE sport.
Almost everybody grows up with it down here plus unlike you we don't have 4 major sports here it's just soccer ( ofcourse there are other sports but none is as big as soccer )
