English Soccer League Set For Overseas Games

The English Premier League is considering the idea of staging some matches around the rest of the world..........

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7232390.stm

Just like the NFL the owners of the English Premier League clubs look to go global in an effort to make more money. The big difference would be nobody would lose a home game, as an extra match would be incorporated into the schedule of all the teams. This hasn't made the plans go down any better with the fans who continue to see the game being more focused on cash and further away from the people who have supported it for decades. So in 5 years time the people of Minnesota could theoretically be watching Manchester United V Reading in Minny whilst the Vikings play their "home" game in London. Totally ridiculous IMO but this looks to be the way sport is heading in the future.

I think we have been too spoiled with American Football for soccer to really catch on over here.
The world cup is fun to watch, but the game as a whole is just too boring for my taste.

    EDIT:
    (when compared to football)

Made me laugh when I read this - seems everyone wants to take their respective leagues global. best quote in the article is
"Some fans may feel aggrieved, but their concerns will be outweighed in the eyes of the clubs by the financial advantages.

"The clubs will see this as a chance to make more money so they can invest in new facilities and better players."
invest in new facilities and better players .. hahahahahahaha
some people crack me up - to borrow one of Marrdo's quotes.
Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...
