I slept right through it. The 2002 quake rattled the blinds in my bedroom, but if anything happened in the house from this quake, it didn't bother me much.

I didn't feel it in Chicago, but I value my sleep too much to let a little thing like an earthquake wake me.
A lot of people around my office said they were woken up by it though.

Those tremors that were felt in Illinois & Wisconsin will be small in comparison to those that will be felt in the Tri-State area (WI, MN & IA) when Jing gets here & Mt. Singer erupts.

As a matter of fact, after the tremors were felt, I received numerous phone calls asking me if she had arrived.

The magnitude 5.2 earthquake that rocked the Midwest on Friday was felt from Kansas to Georgia, and aftershocks could continue for months at this strange seismic zone at the nation's center and even trigger another big quake, a geophysicist said.

But since the tremors lasted longer than one minute, most people knew that it wasn't Singer at all.
