Driver who struck Malik Sealy is charged with DWI again
The man convicted in the drunken-driving crash that killed Minnesota Timberwolves guard Malik Sealy six years ago has been caught allegedly driving drunk again, authorities said.
Souksangouane Phengsene, 50, was charged Tuesday in Hennepin County District Court with two counts of felony drunken driving after police arrested him in Crystal early Sunday.
Police stopped him after they saw him weaving over the left center lane and into the curb near W. Broadway and Corvallis Avenue N. A breath test revealed a blood-alcohol level of 0.21 percent. The legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent.
In 2004, Phengsene was released from the Faribault prison after serving a four-year sentence for criminal vehicular homicide in the crash that killed Sealy.
According to state sentencing guidelines, Phengsene could face an additional four years in prison if convicted of the current charges, authorities said.
OK I am going to stand on my soap box for a minute. And not because it was Malik Sealy, but I for one and sick and tired of these repeat drivers who drink and drive over and over again. Let alone kill someone.
And then they can get behind a wheel again becasue all they get is a slap on the hand. As far as I am concerned You get behind a wheel and drive drunk, you kilkl someone. Sit in jail and Rot th erest of your life. You should get no less of a sentence than someone who takes a gun a kills someone.
Ok rant over

Especially when your blood alcohol is .21.
I remember a long time ago a drunk driver hit a kid rollerblading and the dude only got 5 years.
Fortunatly DWI laws are getting way more strict.
This guy should go to jail again.
All the kids my age pee their pants, it's the coolest.

unbelievable, put him back in jail for 4 years and then what?
He will be back out driving drunk again......
There has to be a better way, like if he is ever caught even driving a car sober, he will get life in the hole. Bunch of crap I tell you!
Thanks Lotza!

Was disgusted when I sas this on the news... you'd think killing someone would scare you straight... but people never seem to learn!
Need to lock him up and throw away the key...

What about the person that drinks and drives kills someone, does his term gets out and never drinks again?
It is horrible and careless and so incredibly unfortunate, but I can't see making them go to jail forever I'm sorry.
What about the guy who doesn't strap his ladder down because he thinks one will do and he flies down the freeway it flies off and someone dies as a reault? Happens all the time. Should they serve the rest of their lives in jail?
I'm not a DUI apologist in anyway I just think it is a bit extreeme to suggest they spend forever in prison.
You know whats worse to me? Sex offenders that have been busted 2,3,4 times being let go after 7 months and they end up kidnapping, torturing, and murdering little kids.
There are definately some messed up priorities in our system of justice.

As far as the sex offenders, don't even get me started on that. If I ever found out something happened to one of my Kids, call the police for there protection, but even they would have a hard time stopping me.

I just can't see it that way.
Now the guy killed someone and he got caught doing the same thing again string him up IMO. You don't learn your lesson after 4 years in prison and a person dead then you aren't worth the air your breathing.
