Doc Says I need a New Hobby
Hey, I was in to see the doc yesterday and she says I need to do some low level exercise when I am not fishing or hunting.
I know it sounds funny but because of the weather lately, I haven't been fishing as much as I would like so I am looking for another hobby (Docs Recommendation) that would get me out of the house on weekends that I can't hunt or fish.
Doc recommended that I get a metal detector and spend some time on the beach.
Walking in the sand, bending and digging for lost treasure ( ;D) does seem to be a fun idea.
Ideally I would like to get one of the more expensive VLF, water proof/Salt resistant brands but they run in the 700-1,000 dollar range.
Not sure if I want to invest that much.
Anyway, gonna go out and check some detectors out tonight.
Anyone else do this and what kindof detector do you use/recommend.

Make sure you pick up some shorts, black socks and white shoes to wear when you get out there on the beach.
A cabana hat, shirt un-done a few buttons - oh, and garters to hold the socks up.
Then you'll be all set.

Thanks for the help my friend.

Re: Doc Says I need a New Hobby
Of course ideas of the best outfits for treasure hunting took at turn for the worse when Wildwoman came up with some ideas of her own...

I do a lot of biking (not of the spandex variety-I can't stand those guys). It's good exercise, great for your knees, and you can go at whatever pace you're able. For low-level activity, I'd recommend something like a cruiser (above) or an urban hybrid (below):

Your all cracking me up.
Am I to believe that no one on this site has ever took this hobby up?
So far I have looked at Garrett, Tesoro, Bounty Hunter and Fisher.
Seems that Garrett is a cut above the rest with Tesoro and Bounty Hunter following them up.
Re: Doc Says I need a New Hobby
One word Marrdro: Meteorites! Take your fancy detector and take a walk out on some isolated frozen lake and if you see or detect a rock like thingy, Bingo! meteorite! Your rich (maybe) ;D Serious! I found a small one (I'll take a picture and post it) out in the high desert near my mom's house. Small iron meteorite. Just one more cool thing you can look for. :D

Maybe instead of buying a metal detector, you should just save your money and buy a nice pair of sunglasses...you know, the ones where people can't see your eyes.
Then instead of hunting for treasure, hunt for busty babes in bikinis.
Your guaranteed sucess this way, your still getting exercise by combing the beaches (hell it's got to be great for the heart), and it's much more affordable.
Plus, your not stuck with making a decision about which dector to buy.
Sounds win/win to me.
Just remember, you can look but not touch.
Otherwise the beatings you receieve from WildWoman may counteract with the minimul exercise you received from busty bikini watching.
