Re: Dike Luke!!! Marches into Madness
A few notes:
------
Adam Morrison
I watched the Zags in the first half last night play the Peperdine Waves. That Morrison kid had scored 2 points up until the 3 minute mark in the first half. And I was thinking what is all his hype about. no sooner did I think that and he rattled off like 10 points. That kid is a shooter. He reminds me of Bird. He is tall like Bird, he is a great shot like Bird (I haven't watched him play enough to say as good as Bird), he has an uncanny basketball sense like Bird.
I looked at the Box Score and he finished with 26 points. He had an off game last night, he was below is avg in FT and FG percentages.
------
Teams to be afraid of going into the Tourney.
It is obvious, but Villanova. They look to be peeking at just the right time. With a win over #1 (at the time) Uconn last week, they will try to carry that momentum into March.
Another obvious team is Uconn. The get there chance to take the momentum back this week against Nova. They also seemed to be gaining momentum, Uconn backers should be hoping that they got the one loss out of the way and will start their winning streak from now until the end of the tourney.
The other team that seems to be peeking is Illinois. But hold the presses, they just lost to Mich. Man, the Big Ten is too wishy-washey. I think these guys might make the final four, if they do, watch out. They have the ability to knock out a high ranking team in the Tourney. Right now, they look to be a 2 or 3 seed themselves.
And the real "of course", Duke, if you don't want to read anything that might be biased, stop right here and skip to the next paragraph. Joking aside, I will be critical of the Dukies. They are the hunted, but they do have some weaknesses. Right now, they are lacking the balanced play they had at the biginning of the year. Williams has struggled to get involved in the game with the TOs and all of JJ's shots in his run for the scoring title. They really need to see Williams back in the offense and get some more play out of McRoberts who has been becoming more and more dominant as the season progresses.
Teams that rank high that aren't getting much respect. Both GW and Gonzaga have good teams, but haven't face many tough opponents. Both are capable of scoring against anyone, but will the pressure of the tourney get to them. It would be refreshing to see one of them get to the final four, just so long as it isn't at the expense of the Dukies. Let it be Nova or Texas, JK.
Long shot, Tennessee, if they beat the Gators on Wed night, watch out for these guys to play spoilers to anyone that doesn't take them seriously.
---------
Shout Out to Redick (and Hemric and Dawkins):
Keep in mind that Hemric and Dawkins put these records together before the 3 point line. Not to diminish the accomplishment and the shooting abilities of JJ, but the respect for Hemric and Dawkins has to be there and has to be appreciated.
In Sunday’s 92-71 win over Miami, the Roanoke, Va., senior tallied 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 6-of-9 from three-point range and became Duke’s all-time scoring leader with 2,557 points. Redick has scored 20 or more points in 15 consecutive games and leads the ACC in scoring (28.9) and ranks second in ACC history in scoring behind only Wake Forest’s Dickie Hemric, who totaled 2,587 points for the Demon Deacons

BC got a dose of the ACC this year. They are 21-6 overall, and 8-5 in the conference. They would look darn good elsewhere, with probably only 2 or 3 losses. Don't get me wrong, they may very well do some damage in the ACC Tourney and the NCAA Tourney.i cannot wait for for the tournment. this is the bext none hockey tournment there is that happens every year. so really its not that good on a wordly scale, but this is the only basketball i can watch. should be fun.

A few thoughts...
It'll be interesting to see what they do with national player of the year. Redick and Morrison are definately both deserving of it, but Redick has played better competition than Morrison has and has had just as good or better numbers. I'd like to see Redick come away with the Wooden Award and Nat'l Player of the year, but I wouldn't cry if they split.
Look for Michigan State to come on strong. I don't expect them to make the Final Four, but they have the potential of pulling off some upsets in the first few rounds.
George Washington is 22-1 and ranked #6, but they've played some pretty poor competition this season. They're relatively young too, so I think they'll end up being bumped pretty early.
Pittsburgh is in the top 10 depending on which poll you look at, but in my opinion they are being overrated AGAIN. They always seem to fail to live up to expectations come tourney time.
