Thanks for all of the great advice you guys, since I'm kind of new to this.

I have the winning bid with 2 days left on a 9.99 authentic autographed jersey from a future Vikings HOF.

The shipping is 18.00 but oh well. Do you think I should wait until about 15 seconds left and bid 13.00 to be safe?

It is one hell of a steal even at 20.

I've had the worst luck on ebay. I bought a $600 drum machine that died in a year, DOA disc drive, broken phone and most recently a light fixture for my fishtank in which one of the sockets is dead. All of them screwed me, but you can't leave negative feedback because they negative feedback you back and if you buy 6 things, nobody will sell to you.

Then bid $20.26 in the last few seconds if you think it's a steal. Just make sure you can place a bid & have it register within that 15 seconds.

As I said before, placing a bid of that much doesn't mean that is what the bid will jump up to. It could still end up yours for $9.99, but I'm sure it will be outbid in the final seconds.

Placing a bid of $20.56 will guarantee you'll out bid any last second bidder that bids anywhere between $10.51 & $20.00

That's exactly what I'm thinking as well. I'm going to refresh at 15 seconds and if it is still 9.99 I am going to bid 12.01

That should cover it if someone gets smart and ups me by a buck or so.

The only thing is, this guy is charging 18 dollars for shipping, but what can you do. It's not every day future HOF's collegiate autographed jerseys up for sale under 40 dollars.

Refreshing your screen at 15 seconds may not give you time to bid, but I don't know the speed of your computer or your typing skills. At 15 seconds i already typing in your bid.

You can bid $12.01 if you want to, but if someone out bids you at $12.51 & you would have been happy paying $20.00, you'll be kicking yourself in the ass. Don't say I didn't tell you so.

Of course you got screwed! Who would want a Tar holes jersey?

If the winning bid is 15.00 for something, and I bid say 60, does that increase the next highest price to 60, or does it go 15.50 and just automatically bid me up until someone bids more than me?

Say something is going for 20, and I bid a max of 60 at the last second before the sale, does that mean I am going to have pay 60 if the next highest bid is 20, or do I just pay a little higher than the 2nd highest bid?

I would really appreciate an answer, then I should be ebay-educated.

Ha no if you bid 60, it will go to the next increment, probably 15.50. However this means that you're covered on the item all the way up to 60, so if a potential buyer bids 40 dollars, you're at 40.50 now, but you're still the winning bidder. if someone bids 60.50 you're done. This is all applicable for the last few seconds too. However, keep in mind the highest bid might be 100 dollars on an item but it is only at 15 because that is how high the second highest bidder has gone.
