December 7th - Attention Ohio Viking Fans

As many of you know or may not know, Ohio's Issue 5 recently passed.
For those of you that don't already know, issue 5 is the law that bans smoking in public places, including but not limited to bars and restaurants.

I probably spend a little more time in bars than I should, but anyway, one thing I couldn't stand was all of the second hand smoke, and the way my clothes smelled when I got home.
Those days are almost over, my friends.
I'm as excited as anyone about this.
I'm about sick of smoker's whining, and having to deal with smokers in the bar, and when I go out to eat.
The current set up of "smoking" and "non-smoking" sections was a joke.

December 7th is the date the law will take affect.
Please support your favorite local bar and/or restaurant, and either take your wife/girlfriend out to dinner, meet some buddies for a couple drinks, etc.
Whatever you do just show your support for your local service establishments, and for no longer having to deal with second hand smoke and people who are under the impression that the world is their ashtray.

    ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
    Can you tell I'm happy?

Since drinking liquor is bad for people, they should stop serving that at bars as well.

Drinking liquor isn't bad for the people sitting next to you or 3 tables over, it's bad for everyone.

    I just hate this law.
I think it is ridiculous to say that you can't smoke in a fricking bar!
I can understand every public place, especially restaurants...just not the bar.
    Leave the bar alone!

This is not a stupid law.

The absence of this law basically says if you're allergic to smoke or are asthmatic, you don't have the right to go to a bar and enjoy a few drinks.

Smokers argue they should have the right to enjoy a few cigarettes at the bar.
Non-smokers like to drink to, and when people are smoking in the bar, it infringes upon others' rights to go to the bar and have a drink without having to inhale second hand smoke.

Delaware has had the same law for a few years (might have been the first) Its not that bad- I smoke- and I dont mind going outside the bar to do it, it smells better inside and you get to see the chicks that don't mind you smoking......

    DE,

It's nice to see a smoker that appreciates the law.

I live in Ohio and helped pass the law; mainly to piss of co-workers.
It bans all smoking in businesses too that are not family owned and operated.
    Ha!

I smoked for 16 years and I never smoked where people may get offended, including the smoking section of a restaurant.

I've never minded going outside to smoke to respect others rights. I still do it even where smoking is allowed, but some of the non-smoking crap is getting out of hand.

I just filled out my yearly insurance at work. I can opt for option I: to pay an extra $500+ to have the right to smoke in my own home. Option II: I can say I'm a non-smoker. Not an option for me since I've smoked in the last year & not an option for anyone who quit at the beginning of the year & haven't smoked since.

Option III: I can join a smoking cessation program for $130 of my own money plus an additional $90 for patches & wave the $500 fee, but if I faulter & have a cigarette 6 months after I initially quit, even if I have that cigarette in my bathroom at home while I'm taking a dump, I can be fired.

If you smoke an occassional cigar or have a cigarette or two when you drink & list yourself as a non-tobacco user to waive the extra $500+, you can also be fired.

I believe chewing tobacco is also included in their policy.
