    Country Song

Lately I have taken some time to learn the guitar. Not a pro, but one day I will master that s.o.b. I was having some trouble trying to figure out what kind of music I want to play, and now I think I got it. Let me know what you guys think. Its a country tune. Kinda old school. Like Jonny Cash. Its not final so its a little rough, but its a start.

I said poor me a Jack and coke my friend,
He said the bar is closed and it’s come to an end.
Then I looked at him with a funny grin,
And told him to poor me a jack and coke again.
    I’m afraid I can’t its closing time,
Now run along and write a rhyme.

So all I want is a joke and coke,
Now poor that drink before you get chocked,
Not trying to start a problem,
Actually, I am trying to solve them.
Now poor that joke and coke my friend,
Before you piss me off and end up dead.

Don’t apologize, just poor the drink,
I need some juice to help me think.
It’s been three long months since I seen my boys,
I have to run back home and buy’em some toys.
It’s been three long months since they seen their dad,
And as I think about it I am getting mad.

Sorry to hear it sir, have this one on me,
I said to hell with that, nothings free,
He insisted and handed me the bottle,
And I looked at him with a shit faced smile.
I said thank you sir, I owe you one,
He said no you don’t, now have some fun.

J/K... Country music really isn't my thing, but I know I am in the minority on that one. Keep doing what you love.

    Re: Country Song

    The PERFECT country song...

You Never Even Call Me By My Name - David Allen Coe

It was all that I could do to keep from cryin'
Sometimes it seems so useless to remain
You don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even call me by my name.

You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings
And you don't have to call me Charlie Pride.
You don't have to call me Merle Haggard, anymore.
Even though your on my fightin' side.

    CHORUS
And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain.
You don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even call me by my name.

I've heard my name a few times in your phone book
I've seen it on signs where I've laid
But the only time I know, I'll hear David Allan Coe
Is when Jesus has his final judgement day.

    CHORUS...

Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
and he told me it was the perfect country and western song
I wrote him back a letter and told him it was NOT the perfect
country and western song because he hadn't said anything about
Momma, or trains, or trucks, or prison, or gettin' drunk.
Well, he sat down and wrote another verse to the song and he sent
it to me and after reading it, I realized that my friend had written
the perfect country and western song. And I felt obliged to include it
on this album. The last verse goes like this here:

Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got outta prison.
And I went to pick her up in the rain.
But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train.

    CHORUS:

So I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain. No,
You don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even call me, I wonder why you don't call me
Why don't you ever call me by my name.

Quitters never win and winners never quit, but those who never win and never quit are idiots.
