Stuff like that makes me so mad I can't stand it. The thought that some idiot out there did something like that.. if I could only get my hands on them for five seconds they pray for death.

Sounds like you answered the fake paypal email. Remember where it says "Paypall will never ask you for account information"??????????????

    Re: Costly Weekend

I've always tried to be super careful when it comes to paying for things on the web and answering things sent back to me via e-mail.

My sister got taken for $5,000 once, worst thing is, she couldn't get it back..

There are some down sides to the web I guess afterall....

Hope things work out for you Euph....

Someone recently got my ebay id and hosted a couple auctions under my account. ---- Resolved.

Then I changed ALL my passwords.

Then I got an email about a week later supposedly from Paypal, saying your mailing address and personal info was changed recently, click here in the email to log in and check if it is your new info.

I didn't click on the link, I opened another browser and went in through the new browser, nothing had changed on my account info, at that point I found a fraud link on Paypal and sent them the original email. They said it was someone fishing for my account and password.

It can happen, hopefully people will read this and learn.
Same here. I was checking "Questions from buyers" when I noticed all kinds of questions about auctions that weren't mine.

I contacted eBay & they reset my password.

I've had several of the "spoof" e-mails from both eBay & Paypal.

Never click on a link in your e-mail & go thru that link to give out personal or credit card info.

I always forward the e-mail to [email protected] or to the equivalent on the PayPal site.

    It's called phishing, not fishing.

    Re: Costly Weekend

And what's funny is that I just got another email from the "IRS" saying I'm elibable for a 68 dollar tax return please click here and give me your social security number and your credit card information... I guess they have my number now. It's sad that so many people can find nothing better to do with their time then try to rip off the people who are decent in society.
