Re: Condoleezza Rice for NFL Commissioner?
Actually, there was talk about her for the job commissioner's job. She is a BIG football fan. But she announced yesterday that she does not want the job.
Here's the Associated Press article:
NASSAU, Bahamas --Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, a big football fan, ruled out applying for the job of NFL commissioner after Paul Tagliabue retires.
"Unfortunately, it came open at the wrong time," Rice said Wednesday, clearly amused when a reporter posed the question. "Obviously, I'm very busy as secretary of state, and I intend to continue to be secretary of state as long as the president of the United States will have me."
Rice, an avid follower of the Cleveland Browns and pro football in general, has frequently said she aspires to run the league one day. In the days since Tagliabue announced he would retire in July, Rice's aides have said she was not interested.Kentucky Vikes Fan

Ya like Cojo said, she said she has no plans to pursue this job, she has a fairly important one on her hands right now. Although it would be nice to see a good Republican running the NFL...

Re: Condoleezza Rice for NFL Commissioner?
She has been quoted as saying that the Commish of the NFL would be her dream job. Obviously right now is a tough time for her. However saying "not interested at this time" is a typical answer for a politician-- not necessarily declaring anything. This will not be a short process to replace Tags. She could change her at any point once the preliminary names get tossed out there and shot down.
