    Use AVAST.
    http://www.avast.com
It is free for home users, and quite fast and reliable, and mostly, lightweight on your system.
It provides scanning for email, IM, P2P, etc etc.
    Nice lightweight firewall, etc.

To avoid getting trojans and stuff, stop surfing porn.

Wait, okay, well, first, get your Windows Defender turned on; second, get Lavasoft AdAware.
Does a great job cleaning up.
    Noad is good too.

There are other things I can recommend if I actually read your post I guess.

Always remember and never forget, If there weren't viruses then Norton, Mcaffee, Avast etc would be out of business
    ;D

I believe they are the source of all computer internet virus evil
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Adaware is the best program and it's free I have never paid for it and it is better than programs that I have paid good money that don't do crap.

Another scam is the drug companies, why haven't they come up with cures like we had for polio?
Because then they loss money, but it they can temporarily alleviate the symptoms then they can keep selling it to you over and over.

Why in 30 years haven't car & truck companies come up with more fuel efficient vehicles?
Because the biggest car manufactures had interests in the oil companies and they would be costing themselves money.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Well if I download Avast should I uninstall Norton as well. I heard it compromises the scans if there are more than one antivirus scanner, that true? I really am not that comfortable digging around the registry. I looked in there just to try and find the file that was created with the trojan.

I knew I'd get jabbed a little bit with bringing up picking up a trojan over the net and that ultimately means a person was looking at porn. Honestly not the case this time. I have a junk computer if I get really desperate. LoL

    Thanks Josdin

I would completely remove Norton from your system if you chose to run Avast.

If you promise to be smarter, I will promise to be nicer.

My posts are worth 6 of yours.

If I remove Norton is there a chance of the Trojan getting into other areas of my computer since it's Norton's upgraded definitions that claim to say I am 'protected' from the Trojan. I don't understand how it can't find the file that has the Trojan and say I am protected from it.
    ???

    Thanks Josdin

Couple of tough spots here in there. I got into a minor car accident so I was without a car for about 2 weeks. Probably 2 of the longest weeks in recent memory since I had to bum rides n' what not. Still working at the same spot as I was last year so I guess it's not too bad. Seemed like things were on the upside lately until this whole Trojan crap happened. You're right though life does go on. Sorry to hear about your aunt. LoL and the casino you win some n' you lose some.

    Thanks Josdin
