I know I am not around very much anymore but I need some help with my computer. I came home from work yesterday and noticed that my Norton Internet Secruity was disabled. I looked in to my Norton and it said that there was some sort of problem with my subscription. I uninstalled Norton and reinstalled it and all sort of errors came up saying that there was a problem with the last uninstall and to install a Norton's removal tool that I got off of Symantec.com, Norton's website. I installed the Removal Tool and removed Norton. I then restarted my computer and reinstalled Norton's once again. This time it seems to work right as there is no errors. So I think everything is working fine so I go and open some e-mail and got an e-mail card for Easter that was kind of fishy, but opened it since it was from my friend. No immediate problem. I delete it and then all sort of problem start to show up. Like my Word processor saying it isn't installed properly when I've had it on this computer for over a year. So I decide to restore the computer to the factory settings and just start fresh. After I go through the restore, the Norton Antivirus program that came with the computer finds a Trojan named Peacomm. I go through the steps that it recommends to get rid of the Trojan but it still is there. Here's the website that I followed: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2007-011917-1403-99 I upgraded the definitions and it says that my computer is protected now from the Trojan, I looked in the registery for the file that was created when the Trojan ended up on my computer but could not find it. After I upgraded the definitions, Norton says that I am protected against the Trojan but I have yet to be able to remove it completely
I was hoping that someone around here would know more about computers and could tell me where to go from here. Thanks ahead of time.
