I was never a big fan of circuit city but I feel bad for the people who lost their jobs and their families. It seems like the end isn't even near

Re: Circuit City is calling it quits; thousands to lose their jobs

The amount of jobs being lost right now is very scary.
This country has gone through recessions before and made it out okay.
Although there are signs this could end up being one of the worst recessions in our countries young history.

I do believe fear plays a large part in the tightening of "budgets" and scaling back operations.
So many business who were doing fine financially here the word recession and immediately feel the need to take precautions by laying off workers, ect.
It is kind of like a snow ball effect, one company hears the other company is doing it and it spreads.
This works for consumers as well.

I currently work for a university.
The university is slashing budgets across the board despite the fact that enrollment is at an all time high.
Granted that all business including universities may have lost money if they were heavily invested in stocks but still I believe the there is a sort of fear factor at work.

    It's obviously the GOP's fault....

It has nothing to do with outrageous prices (Seriously, does anyone know
    anyone
that got a "deal" at CC?)

Companies like Best Buy are right behind.....their prices are way over inflated as well.
Everything in their store can be had for 40% to 80% less from other retailers and/or internet sources.....

Seriously, I wish those employees well....and hopefully they find fast employment elsewhere....
I'd much rather see the Packers miss the playoffs because of their talent then because of their injuries.

We went to the one close to us and even with their "liquidation sale" we were able to get our external hard drive cheaper at full price at Fry's.

We did buy our HDTV and surround system of Circuit City though, but the boyfriend negotiated the price down on it.

The Iraq Occupation has caused a strain on us........

The banking and mortgage crisis got us into the recession.

Circuit City doesn't get a bailout.
They were a bad version of Best Buy.

TNT is right, they don't have any deals.

Re: Circuit City is calling it quits; thousands to lose their jobs

As consumers, we don't really need more than two or three companies to sell us electronics. As long as there is competition in the market and not monopolization, who really cares where it comes from. Maybe the whole fail of the economy will get rid of some of these companies that really have no place in the market. They got in at a time when they could, and now that times are not as great, they are out.

    *NOTE* I've done no research.

Does anyone know if it's possible to order items from the canadian circuit city stores, and have them shipped to my house in the US? I'm guessing no, just wondering. ???
