Yes, but this egg would not have been a CHICKEN egg. It would have been an egg developed by enzymes contained within the direct ANCESTOR of the chicken. Thus, it would not have been the same as the egg a chicken would lay. So I'm not buying the argument that "an egg is an egg, even if it wasn't laid by a chicken."

Sure, eggs came before chickens, but that's NOT what the debate was about. If that were true, there would BE no debate.

I say that, from the standpoint of semantics, it was the chicken. Period.

That article doesn't do a very good job of explaining...Sure you could say the "egg" came first, but it likely didn't resemble an egg at all. I guess the real question is where the first "egg" came from?

What I'd like to know is.....

Who was the first person to point at a chicken and say "I'm gonna eat the first thing that comes out of that thing's butt."?

nah, scientists aren't slow so much as Science takes time. But, peer review in scientific journals is decidedly slow.
