I am sure if you won the series like the Brew Crew did you would be rubbing it in my face.

And how does that change the fact that the Cubs have 131 games left?

Whatever you know that was you comeback to the sCrUBs losing the series. Every game counts!

Yes - every game counts.
That's why I'm glad there are 131 left for the Cubs.
They're probably going to need all of those games.

Every game really does count. The Twins/White Sox came down to a playoff game last year... and that sucked.

Thinking about starting a Mets thread. Not my favorite team, but fun games to attend nonetheless.
Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Cubs double their fun in sweep
Scales' two-baggers part of big innings against Padres

by Carrie Muskat / MLB.com
05/14/09 8:05 PM ET

CHICAGO -- The Disney people haven't called Bobby Scales yet. There's no HBO movie in the works. He still hopes to give the script writers more material to work with.

Scales, a 31-year-old rookie who has paid his dues in the Minors, hit a pair of two-run doubles Thursday to back Ryan Dempster and help lift the Cubs to an 11-3 victory over the San Diego Padres.

Dempster (3-2) drove in two runs with his first multi-hit game of his career, Reed Johnson added a two-run double, and Geovany Soto drove in two runs for the Cubs, who completed a sweep of the Padres.

Scales, who played more than 10 years in the Minor Leagues before his first callup on May 4, subbed at third base for Aramis Ramirez, out four to six weeks with a dislocated shoulder. He has hit safely in all six games he's played, the longest streak for a Cubs player to start his career since Jerome Walton did so in seven straight games in 1989.

"He wants some playing time," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said of Scales.

Will he get it?

"I've said many times players in the large part make out the lineup for the manager," Piniella said.
As the Padres have now lost 11 straight road games, a sweep was almost a necessity.
Glad the Cubs did what they had to do.

Jam-packed right now at the top of the NL Central:

Central W L PCT GB E# L10 STRK
Milwaukee 21 14 .600 - - 8-2 W3

St. Louis 21 14 .600 - - 4-6 W1
Chicago 20 14 .588 0.5 128 7-3 W4
Cincinnati 20 14 .588 0.5 128 7-3 W3
Houston 16 18 .471 4.5 124 6-4 W2
Pittsburgh 14 20 .412 6.5 122 2-8 L1

Cubs host Houston for 3 starting today at 1:20pm CDT - the game is on WGN.

Brewers and Cardinals square off for 3 in St. Louis starting tonight.
Here's hoping they beat up on each other a bit.

=Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
