I don't know....they aren't that way in real life.
Probably something with the sun and my Crackberry camera.

Not only that, it's mid May...when are you going to get leaves on the trees?
The trees are starting to show some leaves, but it's been a cold spring.
Hell - we had snow on the last day of March this year.
A lot of the lakes "Up Nort" still have ice on them!

The tree to the right in that picture (the one in front of the house) is kinda sick, but I've been giving it extra tree food and that has helped a bit.

Big bats, Big Z driving surging Cubs
Club wins fourth straight, reportedly interested in Edmonds

By Carrie Muskat / MLB.com

CHICAGO -- It was finger-numbing cold at Wrigley Field Monday night, with a game-time temperature at 41 degrees, but that didn't stop the red-hot Cubs.

Alfonso Soriano hit a two-run homer, and Geovany Soto smacked a two-run single to highlight a six-run fifth inning and back Carlos Zambrano as the Cubs beat the San Diego Padres, 12-3, to win their fourth straight game.

Chicago, which also scored five runs in the sixth, now leads the National League Central and is first in the Major Leagues in runs scored with 223. Zambrano helped the cause by collecting two hits, one from each side of the plate. Wasn't he cold?

"It's OK for me -- I'm from Alaska," Zambrano said.
The Cardinals lose, so the Cubs are now alone in 1st place in the NL Central.

No picture - I didn't know the Cubs had won until this AM.

Yup - starting pitchers dropping like flies, a closer who can't and a lineup that's not really hitting.

One bad inning dooms Marquis, Cubs
Four-run fourth ends four-game streak; Soriano hits leadoff shot

By Carrie Muskat / MLB.com

CHICAGO -- Jason Marquis can't get away with any mistakes lately.

Khalil Greene hit a game-tying three-run homer, and Shawn Estes singled and scored the go-ahead run to help himself as the San Diego Padres beat Marquis and the Cubs, 4-3, on a rainy Tuesday night to snap Chicago's winning streak at four games.

Marquis (1-3) took the loss, his third in a row, serving up four runs -- all in the fourth -- nine hits and one walk over 5 2/3 innings. The Cubs gave him a 3-0 lead after Alfonso Soriano's leadoff homer in the first and a two-run double by Reed Johnson in the second.

"It seems like every mistake I make is getting hit hard," Marquis said. "I was making good pitches and got the outs I wanted. It seems like the mistakes are being magnified more than anything. I really have to bear down."

"He had five good innings and one bad inning, and it cost him the ballgame," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. "It's not how you're throwing the ball -- I'm not talking about Marquis, I'm talking about pitching in general -- it's whether you're getting hitters out or not. That's what matters."
Cubs still lead the NL Central by a game, after the Cardinals lose their 3rd straight, 8-4 to the Pirates in 10 innings last night.

Soriano swings, Lilly makes 'em miss
Outfielder connects again for leadoff homer; pitcher fans 11

By Carrie Muskat / MLB.com

CHICAGO -- Alfonso Soriano and Ted Lilly are both riding hot streaks.

Soriano and Geovany Soto each homered and drove in three runs, and Lilly reached double-digit strikeouts for the second straight start to power the Cubs to an 8-5 victory Wednesday night over the San Diego Padres.

Lilly (4-4), who struck out 10 in his last outing against Arizona, fanned 11 over six innings, the first time he has posted back to back double-digit strikeout games in his career. The lefty gave up four runs on six hits, and improved to 3-0 this month.
Cubs lead in the NL Central is at 1 game over the Cardinals.

I agree that it is far from optimal, however they do lead in my little wager with a Cubs fan on here..
:P

I have faith.. last couple of games the starters have looked a little better, Braun is heating up... we need to figure out the backend of the bullpen, Fielder needs to pick it up and the starters 3 - 5 have to remain consistent and get out of the 6th or 7th inning to keep the bullpen in tact.

CUBS THREAD!

And - as if it matters what the Brewers do.
Soriano is hitting, Lilly is pitching well (4 quality starts in a row) and the bullpen is lights out as long as Kerry Wood doesn't hit the 1st batter in the 9th.

GAME OVER, MAN!
