    Me too.
The first thing I thought of when I saw that email was "damn, I am gonna make that at home!"
I'm still excited about carving a pukin' pumpkin though.
Maybe I'll carve a Green Bay Packer Logo in the side.
I wanted to make a standalone Viking one but I think the horn would be pretty difficult to replicate without going through a lot of effort to re-size and print an existing one to trace on the pumpkin.
You mean like this? (I did this one last year. I didn't get this ambitious this year)

Yeah... and he didn't even win that challenge!!!

Although, the brain-carving won... which was also awesome.

Well to be honest, that is actually a bit more than I had in mind
(and very impressive by the way)...
But I'm no creative artist like you.
I was thinking about making a pumpkin helmet...
Make the face mask on front with the horns carved in on the side, but not all the way through...just enough for the light to shine through.

That would probably be easier than what I did. I had to design the lines of the norseman so I didn't cut out any of the middle. There were a lot of thin connections there, holding the pieces in place. You could also cut the horn completely out, and make the little yellow piece in front of the horn a carved thin pumpkin wall, like you said. That way the normally white horn will be brighter than the normally yellow piece.

    Re: Carve your own pumpkin

If anyone is interested in carving a pumpkin like that, I based it loosely on this 'tribal' version of the norseman that I created a while back. I basically printed it out, taped it up on the pumpkin, and then tried to figure out which lines I needed, and which ones I could get away without. Here's the image so you can try it yourself (click on the image to view it full sized).

    Wildwoman is worried about me.
Pretty lethargic from being holed up in the closet for almost 3 weeks, a loosing football team and now I asked her to get me two pumpkins to carve.
Haven't carved a pumpkin since the kids were in the single digits.

My oldest just celebrated here 22nd on the 28th.
We carved our pumpkins last night - was great fun.
Little girl dug digging the guts out.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
