    Canada bans ‘Money For Nothing’

Music is not only amongst the premier forces in 21st century entertainment but also a fascinating document on society. Looking back over the history of rock and pop, we can see a window into a world that no longer exists, both for good and bad. A fact that Dire Straits have just been made patently aware of.

Despite not having made a studio album in over 20 years, Mark Knopfler's iconic ‘80s act have been dragged into a censorship row surrounding their most famous song, ‘Money For Nothing'. A watchdog in Canada has banned the track from being broadcast on their airwaves, after deeming it too offensive.

If anything it's pro-gay. That faggot becomes a millionaire...

Also can anyone find a more bad-ass riff than when the guitar kicks in? That was a rhetorical question, because you can't... As a Canadian I'm both disappointed and ashamed of my country.

The wheels of the CBSC in Canada are swift, but they are a non-government group unlike the CRTC and have no real power other than being a watch group for overboard political correctness and only their members would observe their ban. Just a bunch of self-important dumbarses that are too stupid to hold a government job.

Re: Canada bans ‘Money For Nothing’

Its such a joke they did that. The local classic rock station played the song back to back for an hour straight to stick it to the man.

What are they going to ban next? Every single song with a bad word in it? Every song has a bad word it in. Eat shit.
    We're bringing purple back.
