Re: A Call to Arms..
Thanks guys.
A mini-update: He had surgery this past Saturday morning to remove the tumor in his colon. Has been recovering far better than the doctors thought, even said that they'd 'kick' him out of the hospital as early as tomorrow (although I think they're doing that only partially because he's recovering so well.. the other reason is they are jam packed full).
He still has yet to get any itinerary about the chemotherapy, though.Vegans are eating the rainforests. =(

They are a top notch organisation in the UK and provide a great deal of valuable info. Where my wife goes for her treatment there are booklets covering all aspects of treatment - from info books on every type of cancer, info books on treatments and guidance for families and carers of patients. I recommend them heartily and hope you can make use of the info in there.Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

Re: A Call to Arms..
Our thoughts & prayers are you & your family, I know it isn't easy, as our family lost the oldest brother (age 51) to brain cancer in late December. Please try to keep your fathers "frame of mind" as positive as possible, that will go a long way in this bump in the road. My brothers case was very severe & aggressive (he had the tumor removed in July), I will never forget his attitude as he gave us all strength with the courage he showed! Again, our thoughts & prayers are with you during this troubled time..& stay positive!!

Best of luck to the Superdad! (And of course his family)
Great to hear of some positive progress. Can't say I can speak form any type of experience, but sure sounds like he's starting on the right track. Keep positive.

Re: A Call to Arms..
So a bit of an update.. Dad went in to the oncologist today to get the gameplan. Starting next Friday his treatments will be an every other Friday deal. An IV drug will be infused in the arm. In addition he'll be taking 4 pills twice a day for a week, then alternating weeks taking them (a week on, a week off). Depending on how his body takes to the drugs, he may or may not need the nausea IV. They are going to play that by ear. With his work situation and doctors schedules, every other Friday is ideal. That way he'll have Friday, Saturday and Sunday to recover from the treatments then he can work Mon-Thurs.
The regimen will continue until the tumors shrink (or just cease to exist as we are believing), and he'll get check ups every 4-6 weeks to check progress.
Keep the prayers/thought up. He's been really positive about this, even be saying that losing is not an option nor in the cards. He knows he has an outstanding support group in family and friends.. and even start getting emails from the University of Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill (a cancer survivor himself). He also knows that many of ya'll have been giving him prayers/thoughts and appreciates it greatly.Vegans are eating the rainforests. =(
