We told you in January about the plight of the chicken wing. The nation’s largest producer of wings filed for bankruptcy and the demand of the playoffs and the Super Bowl just drove prices through the roof, or so we thought.

Well, today the New York Times has this most amazing statistic: “In seven of the last 11 months, wholesale wing prices have been higher than breast prices.”

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

I love wings. I don't think they are too expensive. They just need to start growing chickens with extra wings.

This might show my age some but, I remember being a very young boy and my dad taking me to the Chicken Man's Hut....He was a butcher, and my dad would pick up like 5 lb bags or wings and necks for almost free.
My mom would make soup with them.
When buffalo wings became a hot item, the price sky rocketed.....
Same for some other animal parts also.

Gizzards and hearts are still down in price, but I remember dad telling me that the same butcher would give those away to who ever wanted them.

    Another favorite of mine,
    Ox Tails,
used to be dirt cheap, NOT ANYMORE!

    Monk fish is another.....

don't pull the candleholder that is sticking out of the wall in his henhouse... it opens up the path to his secret underground DNA laboratory.

I'm on the wing eating hall of fame at my local watering hole for eating 77 wings, or almost 6 1/2 pounds. My proudest moment.

Same here buddy. I only had to eat 46 wings to take the title, but i went to 80. (Went home and cried...) The record still stands 8 months later.
