Re: Breaking News: Kirby Puckett dead at 44...

Here's a great short article from Jeff Passan at Yahoo! Sports:

    Puckett's abrupt ending

Man, I really miss the guy. I just teared up twice this morning seeing his homer in Game 6 and a montage of his career.

Even though I am not a huge baseball fan I do remember the passion and fun Kirby Puckett brought to the game. He was a class act through and through. REST IN PEACE KIRBY!!!!

Here is a link to an audio tribute to Kirby Puckett on KFAN.com and yes it includes Bob Casey's introduction of Kirby.

It is great they are doing a daylong tribute to Puckett on KFAN radio today (can listen live at www.kfan.com) it is really a sad day in the state of Minnesota.

Cool tribute brought out from Mark Rosen at Spring Training said that Torri Hunter is especially taking it rough and will play the season with a Puckett jersey in his locker and will play the season as a tribute to him.
If the link does not work they said on the radio that please check back later because they are having so many hits that it is affecting the server.

You bring uo a good point.

I think that with some athletes, even if you do not even follow that athletes sports, you just know what kind of an impact that player not only has on his sport, but the nation. Kirby was that guy!

Kirby absolutely was that guy. I can't tell you how many e-mails I got this morning from friends all over, a lot of whom hate the twins but said they were incredibly sad the world lost Kirby.

A baseball writer once said that all new players should be required to take a course in "Kirby Puckett 101", and it would prevent a lot of player problems.

Heck, the NBA and NFL also.

This is a sad day in Minnesota, Kirby, was my hero growing up. I remember listening to the world series in 87, when I was 9, and I remember the great moments he had in both of the World Series, I am hopeing that they will have a memorial in Phoenix, since I live in S.D., It is only a 6 hour drive. R.I.P. KIRBY!!!!!

Did Kirby Puckett partake in the roid rage of that era? Would roids cause a stroke at the age of 44?

Just asking man, no disrespect intended. Not that it would of mattered if he had. It doesn't make it any less sad that he died at the age of 44....too damn young.

Oh and I see exactly what you were saying now Ultra.
